Yeah I know what you mean. Really huge areas can really give the impression of a simply massive world you're a part of. I mean, it'd be nice to have something that REALLY seems the size of the open fields in LOTR. Of course, if it's JUST that big, but empty, then it's kinda dull. Having it be as diverse an area as one would expect a real massive open expanse of land to be means you won't get bored as you go to the top of that hill and find a field of flowers, which you promptly pick as you skip along after killing the bandits.
