I can hardly believe it's been five years since Rumble City closed its doors. Can't believe I've been running the place this long.

Remember the night of February 15th? All of us were at RC, posting our asses off, saying our goodbyes and waiting to see it go off into the sunset. Not the best of times, but definitely memorable. Then, once everyone else had gone, abstractica and I went and saved all those threads, which I promised would be archived. Five years later, well, heh, no archive. :D

I don't even have the threads right now. They're sitting on a hard drive that lazy currently has. He's going to send it back to me eventually.

Well, this isn't a big thread to just suck my own dick. It's been a fun five years. No, I'm not about to say goodbye, good luck, so long. Just reflecting, is all.

But, as with any big event, I decided to make new stylesets. This time, I made two, in celebration of the upcoming Twilight Princess. You can find them on the selection list below.

As well as it being five years, incidentally, it's also the tenth new design. Thus, I wanted to make it a little more special. So, I made both a bright-colored look (Sunlight Edition) and a dark-colored look (Twilight Edition).

The Standard format is gone. This was partially due to a mistake on my part brought on by curiosity. I didn't realize all this time that you can set the whole board to the classic look via one of the main control panel's switches. Unfortunately, toggling this switch completely rewrites ALL of the templates, wiping out the Standard set. That in itself wasn't a problem as the Standard set was default. However, the Classic view that we had was one I made myself, and I know most people here use it. So, I decided to leave it as it is. I don't really have the time to sit and reprogram the entire template. Sorry. =/

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the new sets. They're a little simpler in appearance than the last two, but I actually changed some things quite a bit.

Has it really been five years? Man, now I feel really old.

And yes, I do remember that night. Ice-9 dropped the bomb that RC was closing and there wasn't anything that any of us could do or say that would change his mind. I was sad, because RC was the first forum I'd ever posted at [barring one or two posts at the Dreamcast section] and I was really starting to fit in, despite still being a newb. Now, five years later, I'm a senior member of the Old Boy's Club and have become quite cynical in my old age. 19 already, eh? Why I remember back in the day, we had proper console wars! Not like the sissy, feel-good console wars you young-ins have today! Speak up! My hearing's not so good anymore!! Darn kids, with their touch-screens...

I feel old, really really old. I've wasted my life on this shit. Oh well here's to another 5 years of pointless shit.

BTW does anybody know why ice-9 made TC in the first place? Also remember how supposedly IGN and UGO were interested? There was even talk of him getting some of us tickets to E3! :p

Oh yeah, Twilight Edition is awesome. I especially like the light blue background in the reply box.

Yeah, only problem is, the only ones left are the members of that club :(. That's kinda what makes it so hard to integrate new people into a board that we've been at for so damn long. It's always best to have us elder statesmen, and then newer and newer members leading right down the the n00bs. With all us geezers, it's tough for the chillin's to get a foothold here.

    Alas.

Ah, so that's where the Standard layouts went! Ah well, if they're gone, they're gone. I can live with Classic. Personally, I like the sunlight version (though I plan to trial both of them for a while to see which I like better).

Five years...and I just missed the boat. I joined right when you guys were still in the Fallout Shelter and I don't forsee myself leaving anytime soon.

    Here's to another 5 years!

Yeah, my only regret about my time at TC is that there aren't more people here so that I could waste even more time here... :( But it is kind of hard to convince people to become regulars at a place like this... oh well, all we can do is try.

Also, a few more comments about the new skins.

Good: the ticker at the top of the main page is awesome! Very funny... :)

Bad: No quick reply box! Makes me change skins even if I did want to keep that one... that's a really, really useful feature.

Sunliight is sexy! i like the blue message field highlight and its all very clean. The orbs scare me in a good way.

The avatar and info section next to each post still seems cluttered to me, is there a way to clean that up and make it look purtier?

btw, YOUR HARD DRIVE IS MINE AND I RUB MY DICK ON IT EVERY DAY

Okay so here's my two cents:

Pages in the threads view cause a scroll bar because it goes on forever. i say cut it off and add the "..." as a clickable so you can go to the next set of numbers.

In the posts view, i say make the custom titles in italics with usernames in something akin to the 'Zelda font' you're using up there with capital letters getting the same treatment. It's very roman/greek looking, i like it. Sorta Copperplate bold but with cool serif.

As for the avatar and info, try this:

    Username (zelda font)
    title (italics)
    join date
    AVATAR
    post count
    location (smaller, italics)
    Age

    Or:

    Username
    Title
    AVATAR
    Join date
    post count
    (A/S/L format) 26/M/Florida

    Or:

*in bar above* age: -- | Join date -/-/- | Post count --,---,---,---

    Username (zelda)
    title (italics)
    AVATAR
    Location (smaller italics)

    *in bottom bar* ICQ/AIM/MSN

Hmm, i like that one the best i think. Do you think it would work?
