So... do you hear it now? :)

    Do you?

That's the sound of no one giving a shit. :)

Just so you know when you grow up we'd love to have you back. It's the poster you became for the past year or more that brought down the quality of Tendo City because of your consistant rediculous behavior; A 6 page argument in every thread that had no basis or purpose. Instead of a healthy debate it was a flame war over how many people you could 'own' in a thread over something trivial instead of actual opinions or ideas and even when we would tell you that your name-calling or your persistant pigheadedness was going over the line you would simply respond with "This is how I have fun." etc.

But you understand all of that, i'm just glad action was finally taken.

    It really is a shame...

But at any rate, GR, STAY! I know you've said in the past that you wouldn't want to hang around if OB1 left, and really without him there we'll pretty much have to make up for the activity here, but don't leave us!

I haven't spoken much on my opinion on this, so I'll do it now. I know OB1 won't be here to read this, and I know this has been argued to death in the "My two cents" thread, but I still feel like giving my opinion. I guess I need to say it moreso for myself, just to get it off my chest.

OB1: I'm sorry that you're leaving. I'm not saying such to be polite or politically correct or any kind of bullshit like that, because part of me truly IS sorry to see you go. You were always helpful in posting video game news and predictions, and it's those posts of yours that I'll miss.

The posts I WON'T miss are your silly little single sentence/picture/"..." replies. I wouldn't mind if you hadn't pimped out these forums like a chatroom as often as you did, and it started to irritate me, and apparently a lot of others. I wasn't going to speak up about this again, since I didn't think it was worth starting another dumb, huge argument.

I also won't miss all your inflammatory posts. I can scarcely recall any "debate" you've had, not only with me, but with just about anyone, where you haven't ended up downright belittling the person for having a different opinion than yours. You act high and mighty, as though you're the bigger person in this and it's the rest of us who are acting immature and petty, and it's so ri-god-damn-diculous that I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for you.

Quote:How can I enjoy being silly and stupid with people like GR if I'm having to fight for it non-stop?

(hypocritical, I know, but I couldn't resist). The only time people have spoken out against your crap posts are that fight back in February, plus now. And in this instance, people aren't even demanding that you cut down your typical crap posts, just from the new forum! Raising a big stink over this is a new low for you, hands-down. Talk about how it's the principle of the matter all you want, but you're being petty. There comes a time when you need to bite the bullet and compromise, and the fact that you accuse the rest of us for being unbendable and completely unlenient (illenient? inlenient?) has to be the greatest exhibit of your hypocrisy. I could go more into how much you're blowing this out of proportion, but it's already been said in the other thread, so I might as well not bother.

Anyways, with all that out of the way, good luck to you as well. I hope you come to realize how stupid you've acted one day and come back, but considering how flagrantly stubborn you are, I don't see that happening soon.

OB1, I really hope you reconsider because I love the news and editorials you post. However, I also hope you will reconsider your posts as well because your debates almost always lead to belittling people and that just isn't cool. I let your insults roll off my back since that's the way I am, but a lot of people don't take it as lightly as me and they aren't to blame for that. You are really blowing the "unpleasantness" here way out of proportion. The rules Ryan set for the review forum are nothing, especially since he removed the rule against replying to reviews. And other than the review forum there are just about no rules around here. Good luck finding a forum like that anywhere else since most won't let you get away with the things you do here.

Quote:It's not just because of this little reviews thing, don't make the mistake of thinking that. That was basically the straw that broke the camel's back. It's just that most of you are really unpleasant to be around, and the bad has finally outweighed the good. I see no reason to post here any longer. I can still keep in touch with the people that I like through email or IM, and I can actually discuss videogames with other people at much better places. The one thing that has kept me here for so long has been ruined. How can I enjoy being silly and stupid with people like GR if I'm having to fight for it non-stop? It's not fun anymore. Even if things were brought back to normal, there would still be a really bad aftertaste here.

You're on IM about twice a year, though...

    Agreed.

Again, agreed... I guess like with most of these issues, I was just more vocal about actually saying something.

Quote:I also won't miss all your inflammatory posts. It's his nature... I've gotten used to it. Really, I think that this incident was sad... I mean, I know that once you get OB1 angry all you can do is quit, or keep arguing with him until he calms down a bit. The problem is, he angered too many people, and ones who had a lot less patience with him... and we got this, instead of four pages of us being annoyed at eachother. It's too bad, really... Weltall telling OB1 "reform or leave" when he did would never have worked, at that point. He was angry. The key to getting OB1 to accept something, in some limited fashion, is time and volume of posts... he'll eventually declare victory, get tired of the argument or just end it, or something. That didn't happen here because it wasn't just me or DJ he argued with, it was like six people, with Weltall as the most important one...

so yeah, it's too bad, and the way Weltall did it was kind of preying on OB1's nature -- he should have known that in that state OB1 would never make a statement of "I'm sorry" and would, instead, leave!

Sure, there are good sides to him leaving, but I do think the bad outweighs the good, so it's too bad that it got to the point of him quitting.

Six months ago maybe I'd have said 'yeah he should go', but I guess I've just gotten used to how he is...

Oh, lastly, the "return if you can reform" thing. I'd like to think this as well, and definitely hope that if, against my expectations, he does reform, he returns to TC. It'd be great... I'm just skeptical, based on the four-plus years he has been here, of the chance that that will happen. If he hasn't changed much in that time (and he hasn't)... but still, OB1, if at some point you do change, definitely come back. :)

It's true, though stating such is tantamount to saying "What happened to you man? You used to be cool!".

Actually, I think he was... I noticed it when I went back and looked at our older archives (not in this version of the site, the RC.net and Tendocity.net ones)...

Even if he was, it was a lot easier to ignore when there were more members and posts to dilute his nonsense.

Speaking of the archives, I really need to get ahold of Weltall about those so I can dive head first into those things... swimming around in the memories.

You know, when this all comes to fruition, it'll be a pretty amazing thing to suddenly see some of the forums jump up to, what, the several hundred thousand thread mark? That page selecting thingy will just rocket off the right side of the screen. It'll be fun.

But, to TRULY experience the past in all it's glory, we'll need Laser Link and Lord Shockwave to help out. I think lazy was also there at the time. That is, before even I was here, there was the mailing thingy. Apparently that's where eyetot boy came from or something, and if anyone from that time still has those mailing archived, we could use them and make a single forum with that whole mailing converted to dated threads for each "mailbag" or whatever. That would make our restoration project an ultimate success. Failing this, then simply restoring it to TC's earliest incarnation as a message board will still be a great move. I'm just saying if we CAN restore those somehow, it would be welcome.

It's that kind of attitude that helped me come to my decision. Is it warranted? In some cases, probably, but that doesn't mean I can overlook it.

And nothing that's being said about OB1 is anything that we haven't been thinking for months at least. Well, maybe Weltall's are actually new, but not for me, or DJ, or EM, or Smoke, etc...

I have nothing against OB1. Believe it or not, I swear on my life, he's an okay guy and I don't have a bone to pick with him. I dislike the way he handles arguments, I don't agree with what he says, and I may not have any respect for him, but I never held a grudge. I tried to be friendly with him, to no avail. I tried reasoning with him, which as we all know is futile. So I tried, for the most part, to avoid him. That was fine, till this all happened.

You can try and blame me, or Ryan, or whoever you like for him leaving but none of us told him to leave. OB1 made his own decision, and he made it because he couldn't handle being told he was wrong.

Am I sad to see him go. Yes and no. While I'll miss the threads he started and the sometimes pleasant conversations he would have, I won't miss the OB1 that has been to blatantly rude these last few months. I do hope he turns around and comes back, but I certainly hope he isn't trying to teach us a lesson, because so far, all he's taught me is a lesson in drama. The reviews rules are staying, and he can throw a tantrum just as long as he wants, but eventually, he'll be back.

Mine are new because they were pretty much formed yesterday. It's not like I was waiting for the chance to get rid of him. Nor was I baiting him into leaving yesterday, ABF. If anything, I was being angry and probably a little irrational myself. I knew how he always had to have the final say, but I had hoped that having a little more in the way of stakes would convince him to see reason and back down. By that point it wasn't just about posting reviews, it was having my authority and my legitimacy challenged, and by someone who could have done some damage.

And, to some extent, he was right about one thing, that being me not wanting donations. It's true for the most part that I do not ask for them because I do not require them. Save for one instance, I've never found myself needing help. But imagine how yesterday would have played out if OB1 had been a monetary contributor. He would then feel like he had every right to disregard and overrule me (this is obviously why he brought it up). He was angry at me because I didn't allow him that final step. Because, to a degree, I want that final level of control to myself, though it's not so I can sit back, pet my cat and cackle about being king of the world. It's because in the end, no matter what happens to anyone else, I trust myself. I wanted to avoid a situation where I could not control someone who felt they had free reign to do whatever they pleased because they gave me money. I believe my judgements are sound, and I believe he was being a giant hypocrite yesterday about the entire matter. He accused me of being mad, power-hungry and dictatorial because I removed one of his reviews, but how many times did he threaten to ban and delete people's accounts here for slights against him?

What this boils down to, as far as I can see, was that I was forced to remind him that ultimately, this place is mine, and that I think I do a good job running it. I gave him a position of great power, and I think he felt that allowed him the right to overrule me or whatever.

As to that, I definitely do think he has changed over the years. The person I saw last night is not a person I would ever place in such a position of trust. I never remember him ever being like that to anyone years ago.

No, I really don't think so. He's been looking for a reason to leave for some time. Last night he found that reason, or created it himself, and left. He doesn't WANT to come back.

I don't think you're a bad poster OB1, but I'll certainly agree with everyone on your long arguements. It was really becoming excessive...to say the least. The easiest thing would be to argue/ debate a point if you feel the need and move on. Granted, the people that kept on argueing with you should look into their own selves, but that's just an observation and not an excuse for anyone.

There's also nothing wrong with a hiatus from the internet/ any forum either. So, good luck.

Undertow, debating on a forum is part of its life blood. You MUST have debates, but OB1 would take it to an immature level that's no longer fun; randomly calling people names and using his opinions as facts without actually listening to anyone. The total opposite of a debate. Couple that with his shitty attitude and lack of respect for anyone else and you have yourself a problem.

I sort of feel like with some of you, I have to prove the reasoning behind the decision when it should be obvious.

That's what I was trying to say, but I suppose it seemed as if I was implying that all debates are bad. Poor wording on my part.

    When debates go bad:
    - When points are rehashed, and neither party has anything new to say
    - Either person becomes obnoxious/ name calling is involved

DeAnna, good to see you back! Thought you imploded or something.

Yeah, looks like OB1's finally stormed away as he's been threatening to do for so long.

We've all got a platonic love for DeAnna here! Except maybe nick, he might really be in love with you :D. Tread lightly.

Seriously though, we're not asking because OB1 left and we need posters, but because you fit into with the crazy insanity that is TendoCity very well. We like ya here, and we hope you'll stick around.

    Erm

I assumed it meant that he's PMSing and therefore bleeding through the vagina, and since the PMS is so raging, he'll lose mass amounts of blood, thus turning white, thus becoming albino.

I thought she meant like he'd...you know...stopped being...black...and therefore become albino, because black people...you know what, I think I'm going to stop talking now.
