I saw a big stand of these with some guy hawking them out in a mall a week back, and I just checked out this site. Not a single bit of liscensed data on this thing at all... From what I can tell, it's about as legal as any Hong Kong multipak, only this one is made with pride in the USA.

So um, I'm just going to contact Nintendo about this. Maybe it is legal and all, but if not, hey at least I get the smug satisfaction of ruining some poor guy's business :D.

I've seen these things in some malls too... they are definitely not legal, but somehow they've slipped under the radar.

Weeeellll.... not for long. I just e-mailed Nintendo at their lovely address specifically for pirated stuff. I figure people don't mail that too often.... so they are sure to read it, and then well... things will happen.

I'd be incredibly surprised if Nintendo didn't already know about these things.

But like, if Nintendo knew about them, they wouldn't exist. That's what Nintendo DOES, they shut down pirates.

Maybe Nintendo is waiting until they start to become really big and THEN take them down, so that they can actually get some money out of them.

I think I remember one state took action to get rid of these things, but they're still around in some places... and yeah, I'm sure Nintendo knows about them.

I'd rather just use that $25 to get a real NES and some games.

Heh, CRUSH them when they get big to net a profit :D.

Exactly. It's not like Nintendo is actually going to lose any real money by having these guys around, so letting them flourish for a while won't hurt them. So they wait until the guys have some money and then BAM! lawsuit city. *teh profits*

But I think there's a window of opportunity in the legal system to sort of prevent such a thing, isn't there? Like, if it's something they can prove that Nintendo knew about, or SHOULD have known about, for a long enough period of time without any legal action, they lose their chance, or something...

I don't know if there's any sort of statute of limitations on such a thing, but as long as they CONTINUE to sell these things I think Nintendo can sue them anytime the want to.

The statute of limitations would not apply, for these companies break the law every single time they sell one of these machines, not just when they started. Where that might be a defense is if they stopped selling the pirated games, and then twenty years later Nintendo brings litigation.

I do know this. There is no statue of limitations on murder, ever.

    ...

That's the only one I know of for sure.... Honestly I really don't even know if there's a statute on this thing...
