I love getting their emails. There's always some sort of sexual innuendo in the subject titles. Observe:

Hahaha, someone needs to edit that DK pic so that he's wanking Diddy Kong.

    Anyone? Anyone?

...sigh, my great ideas always go unappreciated.

Hey, you know what nintendo should do? Instead of bundling these DK bongo drum games with the peripheral, they should just sell the peripheral seperately, and include a coupon in each game that requires the peripheral to get it for free. They could save money on hardware that way, if they plan to bundle Jungle Beat with the bongos as they did with Konga (didn't they?). The only way the consumer could get screwed out of this deal is if the store runs out of bongos, but it's still a better alternative.

That is a good idea. It's just like a similar deal Sega used to have, or like Nintendo's old Gamecube deal where you could pick from a list of games to get for free. In fact, they could just go and do that. You buy the bongos then pick WHICH bongo game you want with them.

Well, I should assume so. The idea he has, from the way I take it, is you can get one free bongo compatible game with the purchase of the bongos. It would basically cost the same as the package that comes with Donkey Konga right now, only instead of Donkey Konga, you can get Donkey Konga OR any of the other bongo game. Choice, basically. They would work that deal out with all the retail stores just like with the Gamecube deal. Just ONE mind you, after that you have to pay full price for any other bongo games...

    Clear now?

Actually, you've got it backwards, DJ. I meant each game (one that REQUIRES the bongos) includes a coupon, in case the gamer doesn't already have the them. They could also be sold seperately, though, in case a customer has bought the game used. Also, it's possible that future games could utilize the bongos, but only for mini-games/unlockables, so that could be another reason to sell them seperately (for people who don't care for the DK games, that is). That other way would work, too, though.

The free thing was a reference to an ancient debate with DJ, where she said that nothing is ever really "free".

Um... I don't recall actually making that argument... But yeah GR you are right, it wouldn't be free at all actually, but it would be something that lets you pick what game you want to get.

The advantage OB1 is that if you don't WANT the pack in game you can get another one that you actually DO want.

SJ, your idea has one flaw. If I got a coupon in each of those games I got, I would just get my free bongos for each and every single game. There's no way they could prevent it. What, like some text reading "only if you don't already have bongos" is going to do anything? It's not like I'm going to bring my "Not already owning bongos" to the store to show the clerk to prove I don't have them.

But you can already choose which game to get. Both Donkey Konga and Jungle Beat come with Bongo-less versions, and the Bongoed ones are $54.

Oh so Jungle Beat already has a version that comes with the bongos? Alright then. Then I wonder what exactly the Jellybean's idea would have accomplished...

Huh? Why would you want an extra set of bongos? If you don't need the coupon, you can just throw it out, or perhaps give it to a friend who wants a set of his own. I suppose you could pick up a spare set and hawk it somewhere for extra cash, but really, who wants to go through that trouble? If others could get a set of bongos for free with each game that requires them, they wouldn't need to pay you for a set.

And no, I didn't know that you could buy the game seperately, without the bongos. That's good to hear.

Well, there are multiplayer modes right? Don't they let you use like... more than one bongo set? I dunno... However, the idea of getting extras JUST for the purpose of selling them isn't that unrealistic. I mean, it's not that much work to get them. Just open the game at the store and use the coupon right there. And, it's not that hard to find a place that'll buy them... well not around here anyway. I really think Nintendo would lose more than they wanted to if they did that...
