    Love that new perspective!

I hope they let you write normally, though. The little type writer will most likely be a little slow, like in pictochat.

Having a keyboard interface on that tiny screen is pointless. It's not as though you can fit your hands on it. The only people who find that useful are those putzes who stare down at the keyboard as they're typing and "pick and peck", as we called it in my day. Yeah, they'll feel at home, but what about the rest of us?

It doesn't really matter, I probably won't get this anyway (even when I do eventually pick up a DS).

    Dear OB1,

I've been constantly planting new trees and taking trash to the collection site for several days now. It's not DJ or EM that's been doing this and I know it wasn't mean, so that leaves only you. Please rectify this situation as our town barely has any trees left and has trash everywhere.

    Your neighbor,

    Great Rumbler

P.S. I know that it was you that took my shovel! Bring it back or I'm going to go in your house and take all your statue guys!!

Dear Poopy McGee (aka Great Rumbler),

The trash makes the town prettier unlike that dumb hat that you just made. And the shovel is fair game!

    Sincerely,

Unfortunatly, the letter actually was sent to Poopy, and he was not amused...

Is ACDS online? Has that actually been confirmed?

If so, I'll share my town with everyone! Well, except you OB1... I'm aiming for total perfection and I won't have you messing that up! Promise to behave, and I'll let ya in. Oh and, don't use your subordinant GR to do your work for you.

Haha, I don't want to be in your girly town anyhow! I'm making the awesomest town ever, with GR and whoever else will join me. It's going to be named "Bojacksonville". And did you look at my other GDC thread? Iwata confirmed AC DS online.

GR: SUBORDINATE?! HA! I am the puppet master! When I pull the strings OB1 runs through the forest and into the tree!! Isn't that right, OB1?

    OB1: *nods woodenly*

    DJ: That's not even a person...it's just a puppet...

    GR: ...

    OB1: ...

    DJ: ...

    GR: EXACLTY!!!

    DJ: Erm

GR: Besides, I hate the town having trash everywhere and all the trees being cut down. So I'm not going to do something like that, no matter what OB1 says.

Well the thing is if you do that it'll take WEEKS for me to undo all the damage. It's pretty much like deleting a save file or something. So um, you can show up IF you aren't a jerk about it and ruin the whole place :D.

Hey Nintendo made the game for people to annoy each other. Same with FS, only to a lesser extent.

That's not the way I remember playing the first Animal Crossing... We all cooperated to make the town perfect to achieve the legendary golden axe... you know, like the Genesis game? Basically we all just helped each other out, selling each other stuff to complete our collections.

Oh and, last I checked you can't move other people's furniture around, unless you cheat and use their character...

Man... I'd hate to live in that boring town. :p

And I believe you can move around someone else's furniture. I think. I'll check. No wait, you check. :D

I know already. It's something you are told on day one by one of the townspeople while working for Tom. You can't move furniture around, or steal it, or anything like that. What you CAN do is interact with it. You can turn the music machines, TVs, and so on, on and off (you can't change the music in the machine though...). You can also play the Nintendo games, and beat the high scores if you so wish. You can also turn the lights on and off. That's it though. If they wanted you to be able to move it all around, they would have let you. The goal of the game isn't to make enemies, it's to be all friendly. You know, like a doormat.

Seriously though, playing like that we were obsessed with that game for months on end. It's just an awesome game, but honestly if someone decided to ruin the whole town it wouldn't suddenly make it more enjoyable. We'd all just be really angry at that person and just go about undoing all the damage. That's about as fun as undoing real life littering and defoliation...

I think it's fun to do stuff like that. To mess with people within a game. It's amazing how attached some people are with virtual material things.

No different than the attachment to real material things really, except that it's something you put a lot of effort into getting most of the time. Someone coming along and ruining something you put a lot of effort into doing is rude in real life or otherwise. We were all working towards a general goal in AC, and that wasn't a competitive one. If someone came along and ruined something in an instant that took us all days to do, we would be well within our rights to be pretty upset about it. I mean, I'm sure you understand.

It's a video game. It's all fake. You can't even really do stuff with anything in a video game. You just watch your character do stuff with it. It's nothing like real life.

Yes yes, I'm aware of that...

Look, if someone came along and deleted the save file for a game you were in the middle of, you'd be upset right?

Um, okay then. Well I guess that's you. You all agreed to the terms of "do whatever you want, it's fine by me, and in return I get to do whatever I want".

However, we agreed to the terms of "we all have some goals here, so let's try not to get in each other's way and help each other out, since a lot of our goals will be the same".

Just a different philosophy towards this I suppose...

Alright then, I guess we have an agreement with no hostilities.

Oh, here's a cough drop. I noticed a little something there...

I don't think I'd be able to contain myself, though. So you better put a guard dog around your town entrance or something. :D

Nah, I'll just leave your little town alone.

Unless... unless GR has the bright idea to raid it in the middle of the night... if that's possible.

Well, considering I don't want to be raided by jackarses constantly, and trust me you too will realize exactly how annoying it could potentially be when every single thing you set out to do is ruined by some passing arse, you know how people on the internet can be, you've said as much (I mean, you once commented that you wouldn't want to play an online RPG because of jerks being jerks) I may just turn on the "ya gotta get permission to enter" feature. Really, I don't think you'll want all your stuff stolen after all the work it took to get the place decorated.

Heh, I suppose that might happen eventually. The jerks comment, though, that's mainly referring to chatting stuff. People that talk to me in Live, or people who type in PC games. Lots of jerks! They say jerky things.

People in online games are, more often than not, idiots. The more popular the game, the more the idiots. It's unavoidable, so you just have to get used to it... or only play with friends.

WoW lets you leave chat channels whenever you like. so you never have to talk to anyone ever if you don't want to.

Um... yes EVERY MMORPG lets you do that, well the ones I've played anyway.

We're talking individuals here. You know, the people who come up to you and say "hey, could you buy me some armor?".

Hmm... I don't know. Most non-MMORPGs seem to have it so once you're ingame you have to listen to all the chat... perhaps in the servers (where you get to a game) there are either player-creatable areas (like bnet chat channels) or a bunch of channels so you can go to an empty one, but ingame? Usually the best you can hope for is a 'block player X's chat' option, which is sometimes there and sometimes not. Usually not.

As for MMORPGs... I have less experience there. Usually there is an option to block most chat (except for whispers?), though... if you don't want to listen to it. Because you've got to be online all the time, and there isn't seperate gamerooms and games, they've got to do something...

Most of them let you fliter out pretty much whatever you want. Don't want to hear about your party's attacks? No need. Don't want to hear wispers? Flip that switch there. You can turn off pretty much every sort of thing, but the problem is some things are just foolish to turn off, like wispers, so you'll end up having to listen to SOME idiots out there.

Oh and, there's no slang I hate more than MMORPG slang. Who thought up the term "mob" anyway? This isn't zelda, there aren't any moblins!
