    From Games Are Fun:

Quote:Posted by Josh Freund <mailto:joshf@gamesarefun.com> at 12:32:12 PM EST on 11.19.2004.

Various websites are reporting that Cube, a British gaming magazine, has an article in which it reveals Silicon Knights has plans for a GameCube-exclusive title, to be released in 2005. Here's the quote from the magazine:

"The loss of Silicon Knights, creators of Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: TTS, as an exclusive developer was a minor but nevertheless notable blow for Nintendo earlier in the year. But now it seems as if the treacherous dog is about to become a valuable contributor to the Nintendo legacy once more. Silicon Knights is still not returning fully to the fold, in that it won't be becoming an exclusive developer again, but it is apparently working on a new and as yet un-named game for the Gamecube. This is in addition to Too Human , which was a tech demo shown at the launch of the Gamecube and is rumoured to be turning into a multi-format release."

Hmm, that would be pretty cool. But is SK good enough to make a game without the help of Nintendo? Blood Omen wasn't half the game ED was. Still, I hope this is true. Especially if that un-named game is ED2, and Nintendo helps with development like last time.

That definitely would be awesome. ED was so great... Blood Omen? Sure, I've heard it wasn't as good. But it got solid scores and it came out some years back so I'd expect that with time the team would improve, with Nintendo or no... but if this is true it definitely is really good news for everyone who likes good games. :D

Dyack himself stated that EAD was as much responsible for ED as SK was, so I don't expect as much quality from them. Usually when Nintendo second-parties leave Nintendo they made crappier games. Just look at Leftfield's recent work. But, hopefully that time with Nintendo really helped SK grow as a developer (though their weird, unexplained departure makes it seem like they resent Nintendo in some way...).

They haven't cancelled a game yet! ... they just get delayed indefinitley. :)

And OB1, you probably are right that quality will drop. Rare's has (though that started while Nintendo still had them), Left Field's has... but still, they have a good team. I wouldn't expect a dramatic drop. Maybe not quite ED quality, but still something good.

Whatever this game that they're going to be releasing is I hope it's an awesome game.

It's not quite the same because DNF has been in full-time development since 3D Realms started it. Too Human has been put off to the side.

Yeah, DNF is in a class of its own. Seven years so far of development by a major game studio (ie not just one guy)! Too Human has been a while, but as you say most of the time not as their main project...

It's still been in the works for nearly 4 [5?] years.

It hasn't been a constant 5+ years though.

It's still been that long since they announced that it would be released on the PSX.

But still... they stopped working on it a while ago, and only recently have they possibly resumed work.

Bah, 4 or 5 years is normal, that's how long games like Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 took... while Duke Nukem Forever is going into its EIGHTH year of development next spring.

I wonder if 3D realms got a award for being in the guiness book of world records.

They should just release the thing now, If they wait any longer it gonna be so outdated they will have to restart again with more humiliation.

I hope Duke 4 is better then Doom 3 , "gameplay wise" , If it totaly sucked it would only add more salt to the forever growing wound.

I use to draw little duke nukem cartoons in grade 8, Guess what DNF was in production then too! LOL!

Me and my freind use to have so much fun making levels off Duke3d build editor, He even got Napalm! Which was a older Vietnam game and incredibly difficult even was probaily the first sqaud type shooter, It came out before Rainbow Six. The Allied AI sucked though !
