Now I have to buy FFX-2 in hopes it has a happier ending.. *grumbles*
13th June 2004, 3:47 PM
:D.
Yep, the ending was a bit depressing, but all very well done. As for X-2 having a better ending, well, it has multiple endings! If you just finished FFX, X-2 is going to be a big shock to your system, it's so different and it removed much of what made FFX so great, like the original music, the battle system, the Sphere Grid, the Monster Arena, and Auron :). Not to say it's not a good game though, because it is. Good, not great. FFX is a much better game though, ending and all.

That about sums it up, I think.
Hey, my intense passion for Silent Hill led me to find my girlfriend (a fellow SH fanatic), so I'm totally justified.

Oh, wait...that's lazy. In any case, bravo Weltall for finding a set of X chromosomes with the same fucked up addiction as you :). I wish both of you the best in rehab.

I got 2/3rds through FFX and finally called it quits because I fucked up somewhere in the game, and can't beat Seymour in the third battle.
I have played the first 20 minutes of FFX-2 though. EdenMaster forgot to mention that in FFX-2, they don't have Aeons! Aeons were my favorite part of FFX!

I stoped playing FFX2 because I was bored out of my mind, No Macho Auron to amuse you. The Fighting system was crappy no aeons.Extremely girly! But no Lulu to the very least?

Geno Wrote:I got 2/3rds through FFX and finally called it quits because I fucked up somewhere in the game, and can't beat Seymour in the third battle. The third battle with Seymour is a bitch, true. The trick is using Kimahris's Ronso Rage "Mighty Guard" or Rikku's Mix Overdrive to give everyone Super Mighty G which is even better (mix any two of the curtain items, like Lunar or Star Curtains, that should do it). Everyone must be in Haste, and have plenty of Holy Water. Heal zombie status immediately, as soon as it's your turn. Next, Seymour will cast Full-Life. If you're still zombified, it'll kill you, but it won't do diddly if you remove the zombie. Also, Seymour can be poisoned, so get Lulu in there to cast Bio like there's no tomorrow. Aeons are useless unless any are in Overdrive, because they only get one strike before Seymour banishes them. If they do have an Overdrive available, then by all means let it rip. When Seymour is about to launch Total Annihilation, bring in Rikku and the two characters with highest defense (probably Auron and Wakka) and cast Super Mighty G. If Rikku has no overdrive available, use Kimahri's Ronso Rage Mighty Guard. You NEED to have at least one. Don't do this till just before, or Seymour will cast dispel and cancel it out, then you're screwed. After your Mighty Guard is up, have everyone defend until he launches Total Annihilation. After he does, smash him to pieces with Auron, Wakka, and Tidus/Kimahri (whoever's strength is higher). Do this, and you should be able to put Seymour in his place. AEONS! How could I forget! Well, I don't use aeons much unless it's an emergency or in the Monster Arena, most of the time. Except Anima. Anima rocks.

Yeesh, the game has text for everything and you STILL spelled it all wrong! Plus, you explained it in the most arse way...
Finally, I gotta spoiler tag that whole thing for ya.

Power up Anima. Its almost unfair how powerful he is. He wasted Seymour in 1 round for me (Overdrives rock) And in 2 rounds against the last boss that can kill you.

I believe the battle Geno is referring to is the one on Mt. Gagazet, the third fight where he's riding that huge flying chariot. The last battle with him is pitifully easy, but the third is TOUGH.

Tough?!! LOL! That was easy.
I had a hard time the first time you fought him, Untill I had made a good strategy. I havent played FFX in two years , Fuck the spelling.

I always Pronounced him "in" "frit"! "if" rit" Sounds like a french frie.
If you dont believe me then ask me a question about FFX and I will be glad to answer them. The Magus sisters I had gotten the third and last time I played FFX 2 years ago, Since they never were in previous games as far as I know?(unless prior to FF7?) Its easy to forget names you never saw much since I only used the Magus sisters at the very end, I never paid attention to their group name much less their individual names. Its easy to remeber Shiva,Ifrit,Bahamut,Odin ect.. since they were in just about every game with exceptions of Odin who didnt appear in FFX. I dont see how not remebering how to spell all the names of the lesser characters like the Aeons means you never played the game. Ive played so many RPGs and other games since its easy to start to forget those names if you played a long time ago unless its so memorible like Cloud Strife.
15th June 2004, 2:28 PM
There's no "n" in there, you stooge! I pronounce it Ee-freet, you know, the right way.
The Magus Sisters made their first appearance in the Tower of Bab-Il in Final Fantasy IV. They were enemies and very far removed from what they are in FFX. The "Delta Attack", which is incredible and devastating in FFX, was merely Mindy casting Wall (Reflect) on Cindy, while Sandy casts a strong spell on the Walled Cindy, making it impossible to reflect the spell yourself. It was powerful, but if only one of the Sisters is defeated, the attack falls apart. Gotta be quick though, they'll revive their fallen sisters.

You probaily own all the final fantasy games.Ive only played FFVIII,FFIX,FFX and some small bits of FFVII. I might have played FF2 or FF3? Not sure,When I was a kid at my freinds house it was the first time I played a RPG.
Your a Final Fantasiac I am just a casual gamer who haisnt seen the hole series.
15th June 2004, 2:38 PM
Final Fantasiac? I like that term :). Not me though. I played Final Fantasy IV years ago before N64 even came out, and never played any more FF until FFX. It's a great series, but I haven't played much of it. I tried to play Final Fantasy VII and VIII, but I just couldn't get into them.

I didnt know what Final fantasy was untill the playstation came out and FFVII was the big killer game for the system. I am not even certain if what I had played years ago was Dragon warrior or Final fantasy 3.
15th June 2004, 5:31 PM
Pay no mind to ASM's ramblings about pronouncing things. He doesn't speak english (well barely, but he just speaks as a parlor trick, like a parrot) so he doesn't get how it SHOULD sound.
Ah yes, FFIV is a fun game. It's best played on the PS1 though thanks to the fully restored TRUE version they finally gave us, plus a decent translation. The FMVs really aren't all that special really, so that's hardly reason enough for it's superiority. It's just fun to have Tellah "remember" spells you can't even cast normally, like bolt 3 on the entire enemy party. Of course, the enemies tend to have a lot more moves too, so it's not exactly easy sailing... Plus, fighting the programmers is always fun (ala CT) and I think EVERY game should let you do that! (Though one programmer, as I might do actually, decided to make a "god" type representation of themself, it huuuurts...) FF6 is probably my fave, being the first I played, though it's close to FF7 for me (yes, I did in fact really enjoy that game thank you very much may I have another SIR and what nice weather we're having!). FF8 and FF9 are also fun, though FF9 is more traditional, in fact it embodies pretty much all the previous games into one amazing amalgum that really ties together in a very fun way. FFX was the first dissappointment for me, being far too linear for my tastes, though some really don't mind that. FFX-2 I liked better due to the EXTREME freedom they granted to make up for FFX, and I also enjoyed the battle system, though some didn't enjoy the story there (well, to be honest the story really wasn't the best, in fact it's probably on par with FF5, another weak, but still present, storyline). FFTA currently has my attention. Every now and then, I stop, but in a few weeks I'll suddenly pop back in. There's just so many missions in that game, plus the freedom. I'm still not certain what comes of being able to design the landscape myself as I go on (ala Legend of Mana), but hey it's fun. Now then, FF3 and SD3 both need to be released here! It's been said again, in fact in about 10 ways, but hey I'll repeat it again. I want those two games! Packaged together if possible!

FF7 is and always will be my favorite FF. Chrono Trigger also rules. :D
And I got all my Aeons into Overdrive for the battle against Seymour. In fact, I got everyone into Overdrive. Kimahri knows Haste, but if I had gone a different direction on the Sphere Grid, Tidus would have learned Hastaga a long time ago. I lost interest in the game while training to get Tidus to learn Hastaga. (It's a loooooooong path no matter which direction I go.) The main problem I had with the battle was that Seymour kept getting too many turns in a row and I was using most of my turns healing and casting spells like Haste.

16th June 2004, 4:35 PM
I found the final Seymour fight to be the most difficult. Not having played the game in some time, that was the one before Jecht, yes?
But once you see his spells, the fight became easy. I just altered my weapons/armour (again, I forgot the term) so that his elemental spells were absorbed/nullified. Ta-da, easy boss fight! But alas, t'was a great game. I just couldn't get enough of that damn Blitzball! My only problem was that my team would level up too much, so I would be almost UNBEATABLE after just a few rouns, so I'd always end up resetting the levels to default, just to keep it interesting. Oh, the other problem was that if you got Brother on your team, that he's too good, so the rest of your players don't level up! Oh, and Eden, if you thought the music was a part of what made FFX great, you're crazier than I thought. Save a few songs, it was rather lackluster.
If i had a dollar for every time i ran out of hair in the middle of a spoon making contest id only eat your children with a side of slaw and THOSE ARENT PILLOWS!!
18th June 2004, 6:32 AM
The random battle music in FFX was great though.
18th June 2004, 5:41 PM
What are you talking about Hudson? The music in FFX was great, the only possible exception being the music for Guadosalam and Luca. OTher than that, I found the music very enjoyable and it added to the game.
At the very least, you have to admit it was better than FFX-2s. Quote:LOL I must have REALLY over leveled because Tidus had that spell before the first Seymour fight. Uhh, you sure you mean Hastega and not just plain Haste? Because if you learned Hastega by the time you fought Seymour the first time, then you must have fought a LOT of battles when you played. Right now (Yes, this thread has encouraged me to start again) I'm in Bikanel Desert just before you find Home, and the last skills I learned was Auron's Armor Break and Rikku's Spare Change. I'll probably have Hastega by the time I get to the second Seymour fight.

Oh yes, I think we can all say that FFX had better MUSIC than FFX-2.

The Sphere Grid needs some more strength nodes along Wakka's path. Sure, Wakka's strong enough, but Kimahri's following him and his strength is only about 32, whereas Auron's is somewhere in the area of 55. I guess it's not quite fair to compare the jack-of-all-trades to the powerhouse, but still, this big musclebound Ronso does less damage than the 18 year old pretty boy Blitzball player. What's wrong with this picture?
Ah well. Off to find Blk Magic Spheres to teach Yuna and Lulu Osmose. I already taught Auron Mug and am reaping the benefits!

What really was petiful is that the main character was not very strong and sucked.in FF7-9 all of them had the best kick ass moves.
But Tidous was the first time we saw a transexual character especially a lead one. For ever cool Macho catch phrase Aurons says Tidous spouts more little shreks and corny shit. I heard the original Japanese voice for Tidous was more manly.

I can imitate Kimahri's voice perfectly, so my friends tell me.

He never said much to begin with.
I would imagine if FFIX had voice acting, Vivi would have been done by a girl. He was sopposed to be a little kid , Look at how well that lady did bart simpson.

I thought it was funny when the Ronso said they'd build a statue of Yuna with a horn. (The FF9 summoner tribe had horns)
21st June 2004, 1:28 PM
Kimahri doesn't speak throughout the first part of the game until after the one battle where you get to use Seymour. After he speaks for the first time, he speaks just as often as any other character.
21st June 2004, 1:37 PM
The best line Kimahri has is when you're waiting for Yuna in the Djose Temple, when she's in the chamber of the fayth.

Final Fantasy X is one of my least favorite of the series. The only thing I really like about it was the turn based battle system.
The story had far too much drama, and the worst part is that I just didn't care. I knew what was going to happen to Tidus well before the end, and when it finally happened I simply shrugged as I went for the power button.
