GT4, a new Metal Gear... the PSP is going to kick so much ass. Just look at these gorgeous screeens!

YOWZA. NOW we can see what the PSP is capable of!

    From 1up.com:

Quote:Metal Gear Acid is the name of the new 3D Tactical Espionage Action game for PSP, according to a brief announcement on Konami's E3 media disc. However, that's about all there is to say about the game as yet -- it's an "all-new stealth adventure game," development is headed up by Konami JPN's Hideo Kojima, and that's about it for now. A release date is not available as yet.

The first few screens are, however, looking for all the world rather like a card game of some kind. Peruse those and look forward to more details when Konami chooses to bring Acid out from the shadow of its older PlayStation 2 brothers.

I'm not sure what the card stuff is all about though. Might have some RPG elements.

Looks more like DC-quality than PS2, still very nice graphics indeed. I still want the DS more, though. :)

    Impressions from gamespot:

Quote:Though there aren't any actual, playable PSP games here at E3, Sony is showing off plenty of game demos at its booth, including Konami's new Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Acid. While the demo isn't very long at all, it does reveal a few tidbits about its gameplay.

The largest revelation to come out of this demo is that Metal Gear Acid isn't an action adventure game like its predecessors. Instead, the game is a turn-based tactical strategy game, with what appears to be some card battle-like mechanics mixed in. You'll move Snake a certain number of squares around a map as you try to sneak up behind guards and take them out.

The cards are, essentially, your weapons. We saw cards for most of the standard Metal Gear weapons, including silenced rifles, claymores, and the like. The turn-based game also gives you some other options, such as the ability to crouch out of sight, knock on walls, and so on. After ending your turn, the screen moves around to the enemy soldiers on the map, giving them each a turn to act. Things like moving and putting certain weapons into play have a cost associated with them, limiting the amount of things you can do during one turn.

Graphically, Metal Gear Acid looks pretty sharp for a portable game. The demo gets up close and personal with the models for Snake and the genome soldiers he attempts to eliminate, and the models look pretty sharp, even at close range. The demo is slightly interactive, but it only allows you to control the camera during the action, not actually control any of the happenings in the game.

Metal Gear Acid seems to be an interesting change of pace for the series, and it will certainly be interesting to see how this game comes together over time.

Apparently they're not. That looks very good, but not nearly as good as MGS2 and definitely nowhere near MGS3.

Metal Gear here looks more like a Dreamcast game, though...
