...this game needs to get a stateside release! Just check out these screens from IGN. Most impressive 3D GBA engine I've seen so far.

I'm not sure if a single Asterix game has been released in the US... kind of too bad because I like Asterix. We have some of the books and I've read a few more and they're great...

Asterix makes me think of Tintin... both are European, both come in similarly-sized books, both are good... I like Tintin more, though. We own almost all of the books (missing a couple I don't think I've ever seen for sale but are on the back of the books so I know they were written...) and I love those... haven't read them recently, but I loved them anyway. :)

But before DS and PSP screens are released it's the best-looking handheld game.

Gauls! Gauls! Not Vikings! Gauls in Roman France. :) Supposedly the last Gaulic village not conquered by the Romans... :)

They have potions of invulnerability. In the comics Obelix (the fat one) is pretty much invulnerable... he fell in the kettle as a baby. :D

I don't read many comic books (well not that kind anyway, we do have a lot of collections of newspaper comics but that's different...). As I said we have some Asterix books (and have since I was young... Slovenia maybe?) so of course I know the series... :)

Did you know that in France there's a Asterix theme park, and it's one of the most popular in the country? :)

I Thought that Asterix is from Quebec? I know many of Tin Tin and Asterix comic books were made by french canadians.

It isnt exactly historically accurate since there are American indians in europe and they fought the romans in Asterix .

Umm there is one Tintin book with American Indians, but that's the one set in (yes!) America... :)

Other than that, no. Asterix is French. Tintin is European and all of them were made by the same guy. There aren't multiple Tintin authors, and the guy isn't French-Canadian (Belgian or something maybe? Name is Herge (accent on the second e) I think...)
