    Woohoo!

    From gaming-age:

Quote:This morning, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar confirmed both the name and the date of next Grand Theft Auto game. "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" is currently in development, and is scheduled for an October 19 release in North America and October 19 reelase in Europe.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be exclusive to the PlayStation 2 for a limited time. The period of exclusivity has not yet been announced.

"In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," stated Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands."

Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North, stated, "We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values."

Yay, GTA in a San Francisco-like city! That's so cool! Now all they have to do is make GTA: Hong Kong and GTA: Tokyo and I... I would be very happy!

Woo! I can't wait! I may actually consider buying a PS2 for this game. But then again, I'm poor and I'll probably just wait (and wait, and wait) for the PC version to come out.

Oh, and you may want to fix the picture, OB1, because...

There are many unusual breeds of human in San Fran. And, the possibilities for vehicular fun abound. But when you think of cities that would make a great backdrop for a game based on criminal enterprise, San Fran is hardly anywhere near the top.

Woah Hurrah! New Grand Theft Auto!

San Francisco would certainly be different. We already have New York-based Liberty City in GTA3 to act as the high-crime city, and I guess Vice City would be based on Miami or something.

So, any other information? Will there be motorcycles, boats, and helicopters like in Vice City? Can you buy/take over places? What time period does it take place in? Will it have a radio station with good music? (Something GTA3 lacked, but Vice City made up for it with VROCK.) This is the first game I've looked forward to in some time now!

Post screenshots as soon as they become available please. :)

No details yet, and if it's anything like the wait for Vice City info we probably won't see a single screenshot until a few months before it comes out. But I'm betting on E3 this time around.

Guess I'll just have to mess around with Vice City in the meantime. I'm going to start collecting my favorite vehicles and storing them in my many garages. :D

I'm thinking of selling my PS2 versions of GTA 3 & VC and getting the X-Box pack.

Do it! The graphics are better and San andreas is not likely exclusive for Ps2 it will be ported to xbox maybe even with extras.

Yeah I know that. I'm just gonna wait until the X-Box version drops in price.

San Andreas is going to be PS2 exclusive for a limited amount of time, I'm guessing at least six months. I can't wait that long. :D
