    Shut up.

    Shut up!

YES, I know I'm the only person in the northern hemisphere who hasn't beaten Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker! I stopped playing and now I've decided to finally finish it. Yes, it's been a while, but if we dwell on each others faults we'll be here all day, so let's move on.

What I need assistance with is the Triforce shards. I've found 7 of them, and according to my chart, the final chart lies within that mysterious ghost ship. I've shot my cannon at it, swam up to it, hit it with the Hookshot, thrown my boomerang at it. I even tried to control a seagull...then I realized there are no gulls at night. Nothing works and everything goes right through it.

So I now turn to the helpful denizens of TendoCity.

How do I get that damned chart? Anyone who tells me to go to GameFAQs or buy a strategy guide need not reply, I will not reduce myself to that.

Hope for an answer soon, I'm eager to continue my quest.

I do know that the phases of the moon decides where it appears, but it is always transparent and if I get too close it disappears.

Ghost Ship Map? Is there another chart I need?

If you're stuck, there's nothing wrong with Gamefaqs...

Oh, and I think I only have two or three of the Triforce Charts, and not the Ghost Ship one.

I just don't like using GameFAQs to get out of a jam unless I've exhausted all my options...

However it seems everyone here either doesn't know or doesn't remember :).

So I suppose I'll check out GameFAQs. Grudgingly Disgust

There is a Ghost Ship Chart that you need. I don't remember where you find it, but you can't enter the Ghost Ship without it.

So why a picture of classic R-Type with a line "R-Type Final rocks"?

Ah, so I WAS right in my assumption that I was dead wrong :D. Guess the phases were for appearence alone.... Okay then, well yes you do need that ghost ship map. Other than that, I don't recall. Somehow you need to make it solid I guess, but I just can't recall how to.

Because the picture is funny! And...I didn't feel like looking for an R-Type Final image. Call it laziness.

In any case, I went to GameFAQs. Got the ghost ship chart, got the last piece of Triforce, yadda yadda yadda, beat the game the same night :)

Maybe now I should start on trying to finish Metroid Prime or Mario Sunshine...

... so, how do we proceed to "educate" him about Zelda... hit him over the head with a large rock several times?

Indeed, that's the kind of corruption I can enjoy! Like Phazon!

-____-, I'll say that I agree that the whole map hunting thing IS rather boring. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE sailing around, but it's the whole idea of an entire major quest having me do nothing BUT sailing and such that I find utterly boring. Hard to explain, but I love sailing when I can say things like "land HO!" and have an island full of adventure that I'm heading to. It's NOT great fun when my goal is a small patch of water and a couple seconds waiting to fish up a triforce shard, with the end goal of sailing to another meaningless plot of ocean. I guess I'm saying that the thing that makes sailing so fun is the role playing I get to do with it, feeling like I'm on a grand adventure at sea.

You know, as I've said, this game could have done with even more delays. Great fun, just not enough is still my opinion. Had they tossed in a few dungeons for me to explore and solve (with some extra items, the game is also a little light on items compaired to other Zelda games, and no the seeds and fruits and necklaces and bait and stuff don't count) to find those triforce pieces (I wouldn't have minded sailing to find the switches to activate said dungeons ya know :D), and I wouldn't have a problem if instead of 8 shards, they had like 4 or 3 shards, thus only 4 or 3 dungeons, then I would likely have no problem. Indeed, the first time I thought this game might be a tad incomplete was when I was just GIVEN the 3rd pearl instead of going through a fishy water dungeon to get it. In fact, I expected the pearl would be stolen and hidden in some 3rd pearl dungeon before I got the chance to use it. Imagine my dissappointment when that did not come to pass. I'll also add that while it was fun, it was too easy. I never got stuck on any puzzles. Part of this is stuff like the "SHOOT THIS YOU MORON" curser that appears when you point your hookshot at the thing you are supposed to shoot at. A bunch of puzzles could have been tougher if the cursor was the same as the one in OOT, with nothing but a red dot that shows if the hookshot can reach that far or not.

I will say the sheer number of side quests do a nice job of expanding the gameplay. I just would have liked some more dungeon action and a little less of the dull variety of sailing (it being dull of course not due to any inherant difference in how one sails, but in the whole scenario of why you are doing the sailing).

The Gamespot review talked for quite some time about how boring the map quest was, and how it was like it was tossed in to add a bunch of hours to the game... I didn't really believe them at the time, but after playing the game I completely agree. It is tedious and way too long... sure, taking the time to finish those two dungeons and cutting back on the map quest (so that it didn't break their precious 'make this easy for beginners' mantra the game followed) would have taken longer, but I agree -- I would have waited. Delays are annoying, but if you know they're really using them for making the game better it's not as bad...

In other news, Wired gave Duke Nukem Forever, now around 7 years in development, its Lifetime Vaporware Award, so that they could free up the #1 slot on their yearly list (which it's held for three years now) for something else... :)
