Of course there is! The good guys could easily destroy the bad guys a hundred time over and the only reason they haven't already is because the bad guys have the girl! So, if the bad guys kill the girl then the good guys certaintly aren't going to give the bad guys the powerful item then and on top of that the bad guys can expect a severe beating. By that logic the bad guys won't kill the girl so the good guys won't have to hand over the item to save her. Of course this option is a stalemate, but really, do the good guys have to be so stupid when dealing with the bad guys?

Bad guy: Give us the item or we'll kill the girl!

Good guy: What?! Grr...! I guess we have no choice. *hands over item*

Bad guy: Bwahahahaha! I tricked you! *leaves*

Good guy: Noooooo!! I can't believe this happened!

    Great Rumbler: I can...

Well, the bad guys likely WOULD kill the hostage because of ONE thing. Bad guys are IDIOTS. They always fight you because they THINK they are stronger than you. With that in mind, playing their bluff isn't the smartest thing to do.

Now look, you're already walking on thin ice with me, bird-man. You know I'm right on this. It's REALISTIC. None of that optomistic, sunny day, spring time joy nonsense here!!

How is it realistic to expect Nintendo to regain second place for long, given the circumstances of modern console gaming?
