Xenogears... sounds good. The soundtrack is incredible (I downloaded it... :) ), and games with good stories are good... but I don't know, the battles sound like maybe more than I could take.

Xenogears is a fun game. I've got about 10-15 hours into and I'd be farther, but I got stuck at this one battle.

The battles are very fun. On foot you have the combos, and in the Gear you dish out huge amounts of woop-ass. They're FAR more interesting than the old FF system.
The soundtrack IS incredible, it's my favorite ever. Get Creid, the arranged version, also. As far as levelling up, it's not really as necessary as learning the deathblows is. And in Gears, your level is meaningless, as Gear attributes are all determined by the parts you buy for it. If the battle you're stuck in is a foot battle, I advise you to try using the Combo ability. You will giggle at how much hurt it causes. Of course, you have to build it up over several rounds, but against the bosses with lots of HP it's more than worth it. Also, even once you learn Deathblows, never use them except when you need to, because every combination that doesn't result in a deathblow makes you learn new ones. God I love Xenogears. I'm damned curious to know which boss you're stuck at...

I have the soundtrack ripped from the game (PSF format)... I had the MP3 OST also, but its identical to the music from the actual game, and the PSF is 15 megs while the MP3s were 150. :)
Well, I had to keep the MP3s of the songs with voice, since ripping from games for some reason doesn't seem to work with voice (streamed) songs... the four MP3s of streamed songs are actually bigger than the 46 other songs from the game (22 megs vs. 13). :D Oh, I have the Xenosaga soundtrack too... not nearly as good. And as for Xenogears... if the battles are as often as reviews say, they better be fun... Yeah, this is why I don't download many PSX games. Two 650mb CDs... I have twelve PSX games (and seven Sega CD games)zipped on my harddrive that I can't play because I don't have the space to unzip them or a burner to get them out of there... the only large PSX game I've got unzipped is Legend of Mana. (sorry OB1.. listing them. :) ) The only problem is that PSX emulation isn't that good... it works, but it doesn't always look pretty or run at a good framerate on my computer. Oh well, that's the price of free. It's when you're trying to escape from Nortune and you have to fight about five gears in a row. It's right after you have the whole deal with the monster down in the sewer that killed some people.

I got stuck in Chrono Trigger on the second form of Blade or Slash or whatever he calls himself in Magus' Castle and gave up on the game... I think I need to go back, heal, get items, and level up some more but doing all those fights over is not a pleasant prospect.

Oh, and I remember Weltall first showing up and me being the only one who had any idea what that name meant :D.

I found out what the problem was. I forgot to buy any of the upgrades, just assumed that I had on a previous occasion. Whoops. :o

Fuel is the reason I never equip anything above a Frame HP 10. Suppose I'll need better eventually. And upgrading is EXPENSIVE. Had over 100,000G just before Babel down to 10,000G left after upgrades. Are their any items that restore fuel? Even if its a ten hour side quest it would be worth it. Tho I seem to be lost in Babel tower, good for leveling bad for advancing in the story. Finding the repair gear was a Godsend tho. :) After I get done with this can I return to Kisrev to hunt Hob Gobs in the sewers? One of Ellys multihit fire attacks results in 4 Hob Steaks. Worth mucho money. Tho I wonder if I could get back to the countryside near Lohan, Hob Gobs are pretty common there.

It's not quite as foolproof as the hobgob deal, since that's 100% surefire, but in my opinion hunting in the shafts is more rewarding. One more thing, I dunno exactly where you are, but if once you destroy the first Solaris gate, don't buy any more Gear upgrades. They get better again, before the third gate, but don't bother with them. I won't say why, other than that by the time you use Gears again after that, several will have recieved automatic upgrades across the board, and those that don't, well, by that point you can buy parts that are much better than those available now, so don't waste your money. Then again, buying the upgrades right before Babel is a waste too, as the stuff you get right after Babel is MUCH better and even pricier (and Babel's enemies don't pose too much of a threat), but I guess it's too late now... Just remember that when you buy the new Shevat parts, don't buy any after that.
