Quote:Nintendo fans who already own a Gamecube but still want the Zelda bonus disc, never fear. There will be two alternatives to purchasing a new system. First, you can register your Gamecube with two of the following purchases: Mario Kart®: Double Dash!!™, Mario Party® 5, Mario & Luigi™: Superstar Saga and 1080°®: Avalanche at http://www.nintendo.com/zeldaclassic. The other alternative is to subscribe or renew your subscription to Nintendo Power by taking advantage of the special offer here. In either situation, you'll need a My Nintendo account (they're free) before proceeding.

In case you have been living in a cave, the Zelda bonus disc shipping on November 17th will include The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, a playable demo of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, gameplay footage from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and a short retrospective history of The Legend of Zelda series!

This is definitely good news!! I'll probably get a subscription to Nintendo Powe and get the disc that way.

Since I'm buying Mario Kart anyway, I may just spend the $30 to get Mario & Luigi. Better to spend an extra $30 and get a game I'll enjoy than spend $20 on a magazine I'll never read.

So I take it the disk is only being released with the system otherwise? Nuts! I thought the collection would be sold on it's own. However, negate the above "nuts!" with the realization that I can get it for FREE now since two of those games were a sure thing for me. Yes, the ones everyone already wants more than the other two. So then, I'll be getting Double Dash as well as Mario and Luigi anyway, so I'll just be registering them online (I guess it'll use the serial number on the box's bar code) and snag myself a nice copy of that lovely thing that IS, the Zelda collection. The question then is what do I do with the old OOT thing I have... Well, I know several people who don't have one, so I'll just give it to them. I'm CERTAIN the Master Quest is already on that disk anyway.

By the way, I hope that history of Zelda documentary is the same one I saw bits of at that one convention I went to a while ago playing on someone's DVD player. That one was all in Japanese, but it was cool looking :D. I'd think this one, if it's that, is translated.

Hmm... nice. Not as nice as selling it by itsself, but nice... I'll have to get it one of those ways or the other. :)

I'll definitely get it as long as it includes Master Quest.

A must get, especially for Zelda 1 and 2 and Majora's Mask. Problem is I don't know if I want some of those other games besides Mario Kart or an NP subscription.

What do you have to do with this online registration of games ? Just type in the serial number ? (isn't that kind of ridiculous, anyone can go to a store and copy down a code) or do we mail in the UPC label ?

Good question, how could that work... some number inside the box or something? Yeah, the UPC might not make sense since you can just write those down... they need to be sure you actually bought it.

From what I understand there is something in the box that you use to register. It isn't the UPC code.

Having recently registered Knights of the Old Republic so I can use the message boards at Bioware (oh yeah OB1, I have that game now), I'll say they used the UPC code on the game itself, though yeah, I suppose anyone could just copy the code after seeing it in the store.... I doubt all that many people would do that though. Eh, making catious decisions because someone MIGHT do something means the terrorists win! :D

Well, they could have ANOTHER number INSIDE the box, like on a slip of paper. That's the only way they could do it really.

PC games have it easy since most of them already have numbers (like Blizz, for security reasons...). To get onto Blizz's forums, for example, you enter the numbers for whichever Blizz games you have... :)

Awesome. I was probably going to get 1080* or Mario and Luigi anyway, so this is great news.

And yes, there is a PIN number inside each game's box.

Now that I think about it, I don't really want a subscription to Nintendo Power. I guess I'll just register the copy of Mario Kart that I know I'll get and probably Mario and Luigi.

DJ, is this the documentary you saw? http://www.zhq2.com/articlejapanzelda.htm

It's not in video form but it is a translation of the whole thing.
