    But it's only for China.

Quote:Nintendo officially revealed today that they will be introducing legal videogames to the Chinese market in October. Sony and Microsoft have both expressed interest in entering China, but haven't up to this point because of piracy fears. Nintendo is quelling these fears by introducing a totally new console called the iQue which is played by downloading content at participating stores.

The iQue Player will sell for 498 yuan (60 USD) which Nintendo believes is a low enough price point to be affordable for all people interested in videogames. To curb piracy the console comes with a single memory card to download games which is only usable on the console it was sold with. Titles will include 10 Chinese language versions of past Nintendo games. It is unknown at this point what games will be released besides the fact that a past Mario game will be one of the ten games. Each game can be downloaded for only 48 yuan (5.80 USD). Sales will begin in mid-October in three Chinese cities, and Nintendo plans to expand the operation nationwide beginning in the spring.

Cool! I want one right now!

It'd be cool to get one just as a collector's item.

It's not very expensive, but I don't really know what you could do with it outside of China.

Nah, it's smaller than a bread box. *spins around and does "tada" pose while balloons fall around and Yoshi's Island mini-game victory music plays to celebrate the return of bread box jokes to humanity, even though DJ has never actually seen one of these bread box things*

And it's all thanks to you! Thank you Mario!

Ah, so only pirate games are in China eh? Well, China as a country DOES suck, crippling communism being what it is and all. 5000 year old culture my arse! Same name, totally different country.

You mean the country who's name translates to "book of monkeys"? Yeah, it's cool. Can't go wrong with monkeys.

While China is a communist country they've still retained a huge amount of their ancient culture, much more than Japan or most countries in Europe. And it's really not as bad as they show it in Hollywood movies, as I know a few Americans who live there and absolutely love it.

Its kind of hard when piracy is as prevalent as it is there....

Sure, they SAY they love it, but maybe if the government didn't kidnap their children...

I must say that news story is incredibly well-written. Where is it from again?

You can see the first pic of the console at that same link above. It's really nothing more than a modified N64 controller.

    That's just shameless. :D

Another important question would be "Who wrote the article". ;)

Haha. I know. I don't write news much anymore so I thought it was cool that you posted my article. I've decided to try to concentrate on school this last semester more than N-Philes. Last spring I was up every morning scanning for new press releases and information. It really took over my life. Luckily I joined N-Philes Anonymous and now I'm on my way to a healthier life.
