But the Orthodox world also strongly blamed the West for the catastrophe, since they not only didn't do anything as the Byzantine Empire collapsed, they helped it along... and to the whole Orthodox world that is still a nearly unforgivable thing... not just the sacking of Constantinople of course, but that was a major event in it.
