    From GAF:

Quote:According to an article on MCV, Acclaim has no further plans to develop games for Nintendo's Gamecube console.

Acclaim CEO Rod Cousens recently commented on the matter, saying, "Why are we to develop games for platforms that do not supply appropriate yields? We still support PS2 and Xbox, but Nintendo? No, not in the foreseeable future. "

Acclaim's current projects will still be released, but no new software is planned for Gamecube. The games still set for release are Legends Of Wrestling III, Urban Freestyle Soccer, and XGRA.

The Gamecube versions of Alias, NBA JAM 2004, and Gladiator are apparently not going to surface now, but we'll keep our eyes on this situation and keep you posted.

On one hand I don't care about this since most of their Gamecube games have been mediocre X-Box or PS2 ports, but on the other hand this is pretty bad for Nintendo since third-party support is already bad.

Perhaps if the idiots at Acclaim had made Turok Evolution for the Gamecube and only the Gamecube it would have sold better since the game would have looked better and might have been filled with less bugs (since they only would have had to concentrate on one version of the game).

None of their upcoming games really appealed to me, so I don't care if they aren't released, but this isn't going to help Nintendo's situation.

Quote: Rumors on the Internet today suggest that Acclaim's new CEO has decided to completely drop support for Nintendo systems. The rumors say that upcoming games like XGRA and Legends of Wrestling III will be finished for GameCube, but no new projects will be started for the system.

We contacted Acclaim about the rumor. They say that quotes in the rumor have been taken out of context, and that the publisher is not actually dropping GameCube or GBA support. Rather, in contrast to their former policy of releasing every title on every system, Acclaim will now evaluate each title and decide which system(s) it best fits. This new publishing strategy goes for GameCube, GBA, PS2, and Xbox. Acclaim is NOT dropping support for Nintendo systems, although it's entirely possible that GameCube will see fewer of the company's games than it previously has.

Acclaim also confirmed that all of the currently announced GameCube titles will be completed and released (barring any specific, unrelated cancellations).

As long as Burnout, All Star Baseball, and especially Extreme-G keep being released on the Cube I really don't care much... the rest of Acclaims' games are bad...

But we're getting XGRA so I'm happy. :)

i think instead of dropping support for consoles, or deciding what will sell best on each console (i.e. gamecube gets "super happy pink flowers and little girls having tea party" games, while PS2 and xbox get games that don't further a conception that a particular system is intended only for children), acclaim should just stop making shitty games. it's probably been said in this thread before, but i don't remember. anyway, acclaim needs to stop making shitty games.

Or actually release finished games. I know they want to get their games out the door as soon as possible, but not too many people are going to buy a bug-filled game. Well... everyone except for those that bought that crappy new Matrix game.

True, they do release games unfinished and on extremely short development cycles, which is why their quality is lacking... most companies do that, unfortunately, but they are a pretty bad offender. I'd never say Acclaim is a great company... but they make some decent racing games.

    And I really loved Extreme-G 2.

I can't remember the last time Acclaim made a must-have game...I almost wish that they had dropped GC support. As Weltall said, less crap to sort through.

I dont know, maybe they should figure that their crappy games don't sell, not actually the GC's fault.

It is often funny when its actually videogame related and the joke isn't some moronic thing about underwear or something. Like this one, or the Lords of Everquest one, or stuff like that. The problem is that those comics are few and far between...

If you want to make a joke about underwear always say underpants, it's scientifically proven to 33% funnier.

Anyway, when was the last time the made a joke about underwear? I certaintly don't remember any lately.

And Penny Arcade is almost ALWAYS funny! You just won't admit that their stupidity makes you laugh!!

ABF doesn't like 90% of all PA strips because he has 90% less of a sense of humor than most humans.

And he's not the only one! *points and runs*
