This dude beat Metroid Prime in just 1 HOUR 46 MINUTES! Is that even possible!? I've been playing over ten hours, and I'm just into the phazon mines...

    Read of it here

I imagine he's beaten the game more times than you have, Darunia. :)

Besides, the other Metroid games could be beaten in a similarly short amount of time, so I don't see why it's so surprising to see the same is true for MP.

I imagine the time would have been greater had he taken the time to get all the powerups. He just took the light-speed route through it.

Metroid 1, being the shortest Metroid game, is the easiest to beat under the "best ending time" while getting everything in the game as well. If you skip all that, you can beat it VERY quickly, like in 45 minutes (I think that's what lazy said he beat it in). Since then, while Metroid games have been getting longer (longest being Prime, but it's still a short game), they are all still beatable in a very short amount of time.

So you know Darunia, all the length you have percieved is just a result of you getting stuck in various parts of the game. With such logic, FF6 was really several hundred hours long for me :D.

You know, I remember hearing about a fellow who managed to beat FF6 in 8 hours, then FF7 in 7 hours.

Metroid's length is perfect. That goes for SM and MP. Maximum fun in the best amount of time.

I submit that a game can never be too long. Metroid games are long enough for how they play indeed, however making it even longer is never a problem. What, afraid you might get sick of it eventually? That's what STOPPING is for. Go back and continue a few weeks later when you get back into it and be glad there's still more.

I'm just mentioning this for no particular reason. It wasn't exactly brought on by anything someone else said.

Uh, games can never be too long? I guess it depends on how you define 'too'... if you mean 'beatable soon' then no, that is not true. What about RPGs that take over 100 hours?

You're living in a fantasy world, DJ. Developers have to sacrifice length for quality, or quality for length. The Metroid games are the perfect balance of the two.

What about Final Fantasy? They're none to short, and their gameplay is legendary.

I've beaten FFX in 60 hours, yet with mini-games and other side-quests, I had well over 100 hours of gameplay.

In games like FF you get twenty hours of talking and and twenty hours of doing the same battles over and over. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but RPGs can be extended forever because of the way they're made.

But... but I thought that was illegal here! Doesn't it say that in the thing you agree to when you sign up in the forum?

Oh, and I'd say its pretty impressive to beat Metroid Prime in an hour and a half... its a hard game!

Respond? Well we can start by pointing out how I agreed that it seems like it'd be hard to do... I know I'd never get within hours of that time...

Recently PGC had a story about a guy who beat LttP in under 2 hours, which I still find unbelievable. I have trouble believing you could get the Master Sword in under 2 hours!

If you really want the EB font, look here: Larabie Fonts. Ray Larabie made one a few years ago, and I had it for a while (back when my brother ran a font site). I'm not sure what it's called anymore, but just look for it and you'll probably find it.

I think starmen.net had it too.

THIS should be everyone's favorite game (windows) font available... well mine, anyway... :)

    Anyone know what it is?

Hmmmm, well I just looked for it and couldn't find it on Larabie Fonts. But I did find the Earthbound text font, if that is interesting to you. It's called Orange Kid, so maybe that was the font I was thinking of. I was sure he made a Mr. Saturn font though too. But then I found it here.
