The thought of an American explaining on Japanese news what "boomer" means is hilarious to me.
I would like to add though that if people remember it, it's still a successful meme.  That's literally what memes are, memories.

I see plenty of memes which depict life in the 50s and about how the cost of living has changed, with the generational factor being the focus. Thing is, boomers were young adults in the 70s and early 80s, a time period memorable for awful levels of unemployment, poverty and general malaise. Lots of them struggled and scraped.
