A very informative graphic

Someone put together an interesting image. Of those who are "skeptical" of global warming, many have looked at figures presented to them for certain periods of times, noting that during those small periods average global temperatures have gone down. However, the long view shows that these are temporary and slight compared to the steady climb.

This graphic is "snarky" but accurate. Sometimes temperatures go down a little, but not enough to stop the overall trend.

Fortunately, lately most have begun to accept that global warming is real. They just don't believe it is caused by humans. To that I say there's good reason to believe humans are the cause, but even if they AREN'T, even if this is an entirely natural global warming, should we not STILL want to reverse it? 99% of all species that ever lived are extinct. That's "natural", and as a consequence basically a prediction for humanity. However, I say if we are able to, let's take the reigns of ecology and try to prevent that. Let's do our best to "freeze" the planet in it's current state to prevent our extinction if we can. If humans aren't the cause of global warming, we have a daunting task of finding out what IS responsible and stopping it (my bet is Omicronians). If humans ARE responsible, our task becomes magnitudes simpler, but still difficult and necessary.

My eloquent viewpoint is that global warming/climate change is secondary to the idea that we should be doing most of the things we need to do to stop it, not to avert some possible global catastrophe but because it just makes sense not to shit where you eat.

Nah, let's just pump our atmosphere, land, and waters full of toxic chemicals, rip out all our forests, and strip mine huge chunks of wilderness. What could go wrong?

I think that global warming is the biggest issue not being talked about in this election. 2012 is going to set record high temperatures yet again, and there hasn't been one single question in any of the presidential debates about it? Seriously? Green energy get mentioned, sure, but global warming? Nah, not a problem. Of course the Republican party's in denial, but that certainly doesn't meant that the issue shouldn't be brought up! Global warming is and will become one of humanity's greatest challenges, and so far we're failing quite badly. And it might be already too late to avert very serious consequences, I think.

Wow, CNN posted an article about climate change that actually said that it's real, and that sea level rise and wilder weather (like hurricane Sandy) will become more common in the future.

Yeah, I'm surprised too, the US media generally prefers to pretend that climate change isn't happening...
