I wish people from New York would stop assuming everyone that counts is from New York. I can't see broadway plays because they just don't SHOW in Tulsa, because we have this amazing technology called a PROJECTOR, allowing a single performance to be made, in non-linear fashion for special effects and cuts, and with greater expense due to the single performance nature. The "in person performance" is over-rated. It's not like I can actually talk to the people on stage. Stick it on a DVD, then maybe I'll see it.

Or you could go to a theater that shows broadcasts of Broadway plays.

But real plays are in 3-D, DJ, and without gimmicky glasses either!

... Really though, movies are better, but plays are occasionally interesting.

The glasses aren't the gimic, the 3D is.

...A theater that shows.... broadcasts? What? That seems pretty pointless.

Doesn't this thread prove that there's a point to it?

MOVE OUT OF THE STICKS, GENTLEMEN

Comparing stage shows to movies is kind of silly. They're only a little similar. I rarely watch movies or go to plays, but stage actors are more impressive. They have to get it right the first time.

There is something to be said for stage actors. It's very different getting into a role in front of a camera than in front of thousands of people that are RIGHT THERE watching your every move and, sometimes, slip-up. Stage actors have to be constantly on their toes for not only their own lines, but to potentially step in and save a scene for another cast member who may drop the ball.

Not saying videos and such aren't much more convenient, but you have to respect the stage actors for that much at least.

Oh sure. I also respect the Amish for how much work they put into their daily lives, in a way.

All in all here's the thing. Work smarter, not harder.

Weltall, what, if it isn't New York it must be "the sticks"? I'm in a big city, just not THAT big city. I mean am I really to understand a city should be judged based entirely on whether or not it has Broadway?

GR, what point would that be? If it's a broadcast, I can just tune into it on my TV. I don't need it on a jumbotron. What difference does it make if the recording is "live"?

Most cities have some kind of theater, sure not Broadway but something...

But yeah, I'm far from a big fan of the theater (very rarely go to plays), and sure I can see saying that in some ways it's worse than movies, but still, I do think you exaggerate a bit... like the Amish, really? That's a bit excessive, plays have more value than that...

I was, ironically, quoting a movie.

I actually labored under the assumption that any large American city would be home to some sort of theater. I'm pretty sure your city is bigger than mine in size, and we have at least two.

Oh we got plenty of theaters. Some of them even have IMAX.

Actually, we do have some old school theaters, just none of them are "Broadway".

Yeah we got some stage theaters here. None of them are showing anything made in the past 10 years though.

Mainly this is more or less an aimless rant at some people online acting all "shocked" that I haven't seen this amazing Book of Mormon thing.
