    Daybreakers (2009) & Zombieland

A actual Vampire movie, Not based on some teenybooper romance novel.

Daybreakers premise is similar to Richard Matheson's Novels , The world is turned into vampires by a virus,The Vampires have come close to hunting humanity into extinction in pursuit of blood, Without a steady supply of blood the Vampire population will begin to slowly transform into werebats losing all remaining vestiges of humanity, becoming trapped forever as Batlike monsters that will rampage across the world killing both Humans and Vampires.

Odd twist but the overtones of drug use and fossil fuels is so out dated it's not even funny. Excellent imagery with everyone being a vampire.

'What happens when we run out' is mostly applied to fossil fuels but can be applied to any natural resource and the idea that it eventually runs out. That we keep having to suck it dry in order to keep going. Then they start looking for an alternative to replace it but that doesn't stop the same problem from happening all over again and the eventual loss of all humanity, so they look for a cure. So you have people who are in the know and retain their humanity or seek it, and people who just want life as normal and hate the ones who are trying to change it, it's an exact mirror to everything happening now politically.

The idea of vampires in the movie also seems to play off the same zombie dogma, everyone is the same, no purpose, just masses of collectives with a few people trying to break free of it.

Should be a good ride but be prepared for more political shit to be stuffed down your throat. This is a worrying trend in movies lately but credit to the writers for recognizing where America's head is at. Watchmen was another good example of politically charged story telling, though I dunno if Daybreakers will pull it off as savvy.

    Excellent cast is excellent.

My thoughts exactly, I'd rather it be a subtle then in your face.

Daybreak might be good, but Zombieland will DEFINITELY be good.

Daybreak is serious, Zombieland is a comedy.
