The movie is a mix of Godzilla ,Blair witch ,Aliens, A bit of 9/11.

If you can patiently watch past the slow beginning you will like this film.

Even the " I am so scared" line is said near the end.

How many times has New York been decimated on screen?

It was not decimated enough on screen in the Spiderman movies.

I heard the shaky-cam ruined this. I hate shaky-cam. I'm not really interested in this, but I'd be open to watching it once and giving it a chance.

It does have a lot of shaky cam in it and sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming, but you should definitely give it a shot.
    Sometimes you get the scorpion.

Overwhelming? I know some people reported feeling dizzy, which is odd because I don't recall it doing anything to my inner ear. I dunno, visuals on a screen have never made me dizzy. Incidentally those "dizzy tunnels" that consist of nothing but a spinning outer tube don't really do anything to me either. Also I've never had a headache in my life and I can shoot bees out my hand*.

*I can't shoot bees out of my hand.

Your less likely to get dizzy on the small screen; The camera work is far less shaky then Blair witch.

This isn't a cheap low budget film like Blair , Their is a great deal of special effects and stunts, It has more realistic displays of destruction then Godzilla. Except maybe the broken head of the statue of liberty, I felt it was to small.

You misread me. I have never gotten dizzy because an in-game camera was spinning around. In fact, I watched this movie. I thought it was pretty good, except it could have done without the ENTIRE "introduce the characters" thing. I think learning about the characters VIA the crisis (core) would have been more compelling.

Thats why I said you need patience to get through the slow start up, All you see is "Hud" yakking away with all these strange people making it dull untill all the mayhem starts.

I wonder what the film would have been like ? had it not been a gimmicky cam movie? The premise to Blair witch was that the film was a recovered tape from missing college students , The promoters of blair witch cleverly hoaxed people into believing it was a true story.

Cloverfeild didn't have any of BWP justifications for doing it cam style,It could have easily been a regular orthodox monster/suspense film , The Cam corder perspective too me was done solely to seperate it from other existing films with the same common plot, Like the Stephen King movie the Mist, Which I thought was better.

If you want to talk about getting dizzy, watch the first few scenes of Irréversible. Never has such camera work (and supposedly the soundtrack, which is supposed to inspire Vertigo) made me feel like puking more. And then I watched the rest of the film and I still felt like puking, despite unshakey cameras and non-Vertigo-inspring soundtracks.

Irréversible also has one of the best death scenes ever done.

Are you referring to Monica Bellucci’s dignity, innocence, and soul all being brutally slaughtered on the concrete floor of the subway station, or the fire extinguisher scene?
