BUT, he was in it, and a main part of the plot (Wario's motivation for it anyway). Plus, every Wario game since then has not had Mario's name in it. They just had to attract enough people to it. Same with Super Mario World 2. That had Mario as a passenger, only playable during certain special areas, while Yoshi did most of the real work, but they ended up having to advertise Yoshi as being a new mainstay. Mario's appearence seems to only have been in those two games to justify the name, the name being there only to sell the game at the time, before that character really took off and was able to support itself, or something. In any case, Mario isn't to be found in Yoshi's Story at all, so calling it Super Mario Advance 4 would have NO justification. Oh wait, I can see one small sliver. It will most likely have Mario Bros classic.
