Part of why they sold it off is apparently because they lost $200 milliion on the Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy games and were like 'that's it,l we're out of patience with our Western division that hasn't had a hit in some time, it's not like the Tomb Raider games have been huge recently either...' so they sold Eidos for $300 million.
Were NFTs also part of the reason, perhaps, but it's likely that the disastrous failures of the Marvel games was also a definite factor, along with the underperformance of everything else Eidos had made for some time.
