Yeah, Republicans are extremely willing to reverse their so-called beliefs at a drop of a hat i it gives them any political benefit, and I'm sure they would drop the filibuster immediately if they had a trifecta and wanted to pass something. Mitch McConnell has long claimed to want to keep the filibuster, and he has made constant use of it, but it's easy to imagine situations where he would get rid of it.
Us, though? Unfortunately some Democrats are far too attached to continuing the now-failed filibuster "norm" on, so it's probably unlikely we get rid of it... but it is not impossible. Going to a talking filibuster is the most plausible option that might actually happen. It would really surprise me if we manage to get that, because it'd be a major blow against the filibuster and would make Manchin and Sinema's denial of progress harder for them to maintain at a time when it is clear they want to continue blocking good bills froim passing, but... it's possible, and that is fantastic.
Longer term the filibuster is probably doomed, the only question is which party gets rid of it first. I hope it's us, because we have to be able to pass legislation!
