Anyone who actually likes music will want their collection to consist of as many legal, store-bought CDs (or, y'know, records...) as possible. The "screw the record industry, I burn all my music and haven't bought anything since Bill Clinton was in office!"-people are, for the most part, ignorant kids who will mature in time. Eventually, they'll come to understand that, for all of their talk of $30 CDs and record executives who use 100-dollar bills as toilet paper, music really isn't that expensive if you're looking in the right places.
That being said, downloading before buying is a wise move if you don't want to be stuck with that disc containing only one or two good tracks. (Yes, Beck, I'm looking at you. "Lonesome Tears" did not make Sea Change a worthwhile purchase.)
