... Yeah, spent a bit much on this other ebay box. Shipping was $160, so the total was $460. Expensive... but still the per-game shipping average is about $3, not too bad. Still, because of how much this cost I probably won't be getting many games for a while. Plus this is a lot of new games to play...
Prices below don't include their share of the shipping.
I list where the games were released here to show why I get this stuff -- the vast majority of these games only released in Japan. In the '80s and '90s, a LOT of great console games only released in Japan. This is not as true anymore, thanks to more localization companies bringing games over and the movement of Japanese games over to cellphones, but it used to be very common.
NES (Famicom) - Apart from Rockman 4, Dragonball, and Donkey Kong 3, the other 10 of these FC games are Japan-exclusive titles we did not see on the NES.
--
Rockman 4 - $6.50 - Finally, I have a copy of Mega Man 4, probably my favorite Megaman game ever! :) I got the Japanese version because it costs a lot less than the US one. If I want to play it in English I could just play it again on the MMAC collection for Gamecube, anyway.
Lot Lot (cart & box, no manual) - $3 - average-looking puzzle game with dated graphics. It does have a cool box though.
Armadillo (Cart & manual) - $2.30 - Good-looking Mario 3-style platformer with a character who can roll up into a ball... hmm, I wonder where they got that idea? (this game released shortly after Sonic 1 for Genesis) :p Looks like a pretty good game anyway, though!
Twinbee 3 - $2 - The last of the three NES Twinbee games. I have the other two, so it's nice to complete the trilogy! I'm sure it's a good game too.
Wai Wai World - $7 - I've wanted one of Konami's two crossover Wai Wai World FC platformers for a while, so I'm pretty happy to finally get this copy of the first one. It's too bad these games didn't release in the US.
The below four games were a lot that cost $3.
Dragon Buster - Namco side-scrolling dungeon crawler action-RPG. Somewhat infamously difficult game. - not listed on IGN
Super Black Onyx - The NES version of this Japan-only RPG from Bulletproof Software; it's one of the first console RPGs made in Japan, though the creator is American. - not listed on IGN
Romancia - Side-scrolling action-RPG from Falcom. This is one of the Dragon Slayer games we never got in the US (we did get two other FC Dragon Slayer action-RPGs, Faxanadu and Legacy of the Wizard, but not this one.)
Sky Destroyer - rail shooter. It's not great, but it's interesting to see the NES try to do this kind of game.
The below four games were a lot I got for $2.32.
Bio Senshi DAN - Sidescrolling platform-action game from Jaleco, could be good. - not listed on IGN
Takahashi Meijin no Bug-tte Honey - Platformer/shooter from Hudson. This is a spinoff of the Adventure Island series, but plays a bit differently from the other games, and has some shmup segments. I'm interested to try it! - not listed on IGN
Dragonball - This topdown action-adveture game did get a US release as Dragon Power. I've never cared about the series, so I got this for the other games in the lot (the two above and one below).
Donkey Kong 3 - I don't know if I've ever actually played this game... I should, though, even if it's not as good as the others.
Super Famicom - 5 of these 6 games were Japan-only, the other is a double I'll sell.
--
Mahoujin GuruGuru 2 (cart & manual) - $1 - The sequel to the first one, which I got recently (above). Looks like more of the same; these are simple dungeon crawlers with easy gameplay and nice graphics. - not listed on IGN
The Great Battle IV - $4.75 - Unlike The Great Battle II, which I got in the other import box above, this one is a side-scrolling action-platformer (that one is a beat 'em up). It does still have two player co-op, though, which is cool. Looks solid. The characters are the same -- Ultraman, a Gundam, and two others. - not listed on IGN
The below four titles were a lot that cost $7.50.
Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse - I have a US copy of this game, so I'll sell this Japanese copy, probably. Got it as a part of a lot.
Soreyuke Ebisumaru Karakuri: Meiro Kieta Goemon no Nazo - This Goemon-spinoff isometric puzzle game starring Ebisumaru is the last of the five Goemon games for SNES. I've heard it's not great, but I love the series so I want it anyway! - not listed on IGN
Sailor Moon R - This is the second Sailor Moon beat 'em up. It's SNES-only, unlike its arcade/SNES/Genesis predecessor. Hopefully it's decent. After this game the series changed genres, to fighting games, RPGs, puzzle games and the like, I think this is the last beat 'em up...
Captain Tsubasa III - Soccer game from Tecmo. Got as a part of a lot I got for other stuff.
Nintendo 64 - both of these games are complete in box. Both are Japan-only releases. There are plenty more import-only N64 games, but I now have many of the more interesting ones; leaving out the sports games, the main ones I still want after this would be Bangaioh, Last Legion UX, and Getter Love, though I'm sure there are a few more beyond that (Robopon and Zool, maybe, for some Japanese RPGs?).
--
Ganbare Goemon: Mononoke Sugoroku - $13.50 - This is a boardgame with Goemon characters. The Japanese boardgame Sugoroku apparently is a bit like Monopoly. I mostly got this because it's a Goemon game, I admit, but it's got good graphics and great clay-characters cover art on the box. The game is decent if you learn the rules, apparently, and there are some online in English.
Custom Robo V2 - $6 - This is the last Custom Robo game that I didn't have, so it's great to have the whole series now... well, apart from that I wish it wasn't a dead series, because these games are really good! Custom Robo is a great fighting/RPG series, and it really should come back. The US-released Gamecube game is the best one, but the two N64 games are also quite good.
Gamecube - a Japan-only game I really wanted.
--
Kururin Squash - complete, $23.50. This game is the one I am the happiest to have of all the games in this lot; there are other great games here, but this one is one I've really wanted to play for years, so I'm pretty happy to finally be able to play it! It's incredibly stupid that Nintendo never released the three Kururin games in the US, but they're great games, and though I haven't played it yet this game looks fantastic. Now I'll finally have a reason to get a disc that'll let me play imports; that other Japanese GC game I have wasn't quite interesting enough to get me to get one, but this definitely is. You can get this game for a little less than this, but you can also pay a lot more, so I did alright.
Game Boy - these 5 GB and GB/C games were in a lot, all loose carts, $9 for all five. Bomberman GB 3 is the main draw for me. Four of the five games are Japan-only releases, the other is a double of a game I have the US version of.
--
Yu Yu Hakusho: Dai-San-Tama - This is an average anime-license sidescrolling beat 'em up.
Bomberman GB 3 - This game looks good, but is oddly single player only, for some stupid reason. Otherwise I'm hoping to like this game. Bomberman GB (US; aka Bomberman GB 2 in Japan)'s single player was fantastic, so I'm really hoping this one is as good!
The Legend of Zelda: Dreaming Island -yes, this is the Japaense version of Link to the Past. Obviously I got this lot for other games, though I'll keep this.
Nettou Samurai Spirits: Zankuro Musouken (Samurai Shodown III GB) - Takara's handheld take on the third Samsho game. I'm expecting it to be as okay-but-not-great as the rest of Takara's GB fighting games are. Hopefully it's fun though, I do really like Samurai Shodown 3 on Neo-Geo.
Game Boy / GB Color Dual Mode
--
Dragon Quest Monsters 1 - The Japanese version of the first DWM Pokemon-style game. This was in a lot with the four GB games above; I got it for some of those, not this.
Nintendo DS - Japan-only game.
--
Puyopuyo 15th Anniversary - complete, $5.50 - The second Puyo Puyo game from after Sega decided to never release the series in the West again. I've really been wanting some of the more modern Puyo games, and this DS version is perfect! There are several newer games, but they cost more, and this one's good too. The price was quite reasonable for this one.
Neo Geo Pocket - Japan/Europe-only game.
--
The King of Fighters R-1 - $13.50, cart in plastic case - This first NGP KoF game is in black & white, because it released before the NGPC. This is the first NGP game I have that doesn't have any color support, it's kind of cool to see. Of course it plays fantastically as well, SNK's NGP/C fighting engine was outstanding.
Playstation 1 - all 5 of these games are complete and only released in Japan.
hardware: 2 PS1 memory cards (this came in a lot with the PS2 memory card below) - both are first-party and translucent; one is blue and the other green. They were $9.50, but buying them locally I'd spend more than that for 3 cards, even including shipping.
--
Growlanser - $5 - The first game in this great strategic-RPG series! Its sequels have English-language releases, but not this first one sadly, either on PS1 or PSP.
Ganbare Goemon: Space Pirate Akoking - $3 - I tried to get a copy of this game before, but got the wrong disc, sadly. That copy has a broken case cover, too, and this isn't a normal jewelcase so it wouldn't be easy to replace. So yeah, now I have the actual disc, and a non-broken cover. This is a quite good 2d action-platformer; I've played it a bit. Other than the bizarre absence of Yae and Sasuke, this is a pretty good SNES-style Goemon game. It wasn't expensive either!
Tear Ring Saga - $5 - Tactical strategy game. Hopefully a good one.
Star Ixiom - $4.15 - Space sim with story, flight combat, etc. Could be good, I do like the genre.
Heaven's Gate - $5.50 - 3d fighting game, supposed to be a quality one.
Playstation 2 - all PS2 games are complete. These games all released only in Japan.
hardware: 1 memory card (along with the 2 PS1 cards above) - it's a clear Sony card.
--
Steamboy - $4.25 - This is an action-adventure game based on the (fairly good) anime movie. You play as the main character guy from the movie.
Yoshitsune-Ki - $3 - This is a tactical strategy ("SRPG") game. Hopefully it's good.
Otostaz - $5.50 - Weird puzzle game where you try to build a town with various colored blocks. Nice art style with an angular paper-cutout style.
Saisoku! Zokusha King Buchigiri Densetsu (Simple 2000 Ultimate Vol.3) - $4 - Budget tuner-style racing. Hopefully it's decent.
Flying Circus: RC Copter Adventure Championship - $1 - RC copter flight sim game. Who knows, I thought I'd give it a try.
The Nadesico (Simple 2000 vol. 87) - $9 - This is a beat 'em up where you play as some anime girls.
Playstation Portable
--
Fate/Tiger Colosseum - complete, $8. This is a 3d fighting game spinoff of the Fate/Stay Night visual novel/anime franchise. Hopefully it's decent.
TurboGrafx-16 (PC Engine) -- Games for this system are all HuCard only unless noted. No sleeve either unless noted. Only one is complete. Super Star Soldier, Wataru (Keith Courage), and Pac-Land have US releases; the rest are Japan-only. These games are a mix of shmups/shmuplikes and platformers, mostly. It's great to have more platformers for this system which has far too few of them (though the CD system is even worse in that respect).
--
Super Star Soldier (card & sleeve) - $10.50 The first of the three TG16 Soldier games. This game isn't cheap, but while there is a US version, it costs FAR more and is identical apart for the manual, which I didn't get here. It's a great shmup, of course. This is a good price for the game, I think, even for the import version.
Kiki Kaikai - $18.50 - This is the TG16 version of the arcade game that precedes Pocky & Rocky (SNES). It's a pretty good version of a good game. Tough but high-quality stuff here! This game isn't cheap either, but is definitely worth it, I like this kind of game. - not listed on IGN.
Obocchama-kun (complete) - $6 - This is a platformer from Namco. It looks like a very weird but fun game. This is the only complete TG16 game I got here. - not listed on IGN.
(The other 6 TG16 games were in a lot together for $16.86. Yeah, not cheap, but it is a bunch of interesting platformers and one Bomberman game.)
Youkai Douchuuki - Early platformer from Namco that has a reputation for being unfairly hard. - not listed on IGN.
Doraemon Nobita no Dorabian Nights - Average platformer from Hudson. Hudson's platformers are usually fun though, even when they're not the best. There's also a slightly improved CD version of this game, but the HuCard version is mostly identical. - not listed on IGN.
Pac-Land - The only one of these six with a US release, Pac-Land is the system's only Pac-Man game. It's a side-scrolling platformer; the original arcade version actually released before Super Mario Bros. for the NES. It's ... not that good, but it is interesting to see a pre-SMB scrolling platformer like this!
Bomberman '94 - The last of the three HuCard Bomberman games, this one hopefully is as good as its predecessor Bomberman '93. This game got ported to the Genesis and released in the US as Mega Bomberman, but I think this was actually cheaper than that somewhat uncommon game...
And this lot came with 2 games I have already: Momotarou Katsugeki (the platformer Momotarou game, it's pretty good) and Chou Majin Eiyuuden Wataru (the Japanese version of Keith Courage; I don't have this release, but do have the US version. I'm not sure if I'll keep this or not.)
Turbo CD (PC Engine CD)
--
Ai Cho Aniki (disc & case, no manual) - $15.50 - The second game in the Cho Aniki series is where it really started getting weird (and focused on muscelemen). This is a shmup, and a weird one. It's supposed to be good but easy, and really weird of course. This game would have cost a lot more with the manual, it's a later release and not cheap. This is actually a good deal for it.
Wizardry I & II (complete) - $6 - A Turbo CD collection of the first two classic Wizardry games. This is a Japanese port collection of Western computer games, but Wizardry's franchise in general lasted longer in Japan than the West so that's not too surprising. This game has a thick-jewel case, interestingly for a Turbo CD game; I've mostly seen those on Saturn and Dreamcast games (import only, no US games use them). The story and some text is in Japanese, but all menus are in English, making the game playable.
Ultra Box 2 and Ultra Box 4 - both complete. 4 was $3.56 and 2 $4.69. These are two more issues of this CD-magazine thing which I have two other issues of. There are only six issues, so only two more to get! The two I have, 3 and 6, are pretty interesting collections of stuff, so I'm sure these will be as well. Each disc has some random stuff on it and some games. They aren't demos, though, they're small games (the difference being that these are not short versions of retail titles, they're only available here). - not listed on IGN (either one)
PC Engine Hyper Catalog catalog & demo discs volumes 1, 2, 6-A, and 6-B ($3 each, discs in generic cases) - These are demo disc collections. Each one has quite a few games on it, covering a wide variety of popular games and genres. They should be interesting to go through. Each disc also has a catalog of PCE/PCE CD releases up to the point of publication. The Ultra Box volumes also have some of these on them. Of course the info is all in Japanese, and the web does this better now, so I didn't get these for that. That they did this at all is definitely interesting though. - not listed on IGN.
Sega Saturn - All three of these are Japanese exclusive releases. No action games for Saturn here, but I still have more import games for Saturn than any consoles other than the TG16 and Turbo CD. It's kind of weird how many import strategy games I have for the system, though... WAY more than I have for PS1, for example, by several times. And I made that worse here. Ah well. :)
--
Galaxy Fraulien Yuna 3: Lighting Angel - $4 - The third and last game in this visual novel/RPG series from Hudson. I have the first game but not the second, but this was cheap so I got it anyway. The first game seems good, from what of it I can make out. This is in a dual-jewel case, though the extras space is mostly wasted -- it's just got one disc, a manual, and a collector's card in protector, this could have fit into a thick-jewel case.
Soldnershild S - $4 - Saturn version of a PS1/Saturn strategy game. This could be good if there's help out there for how to play it. This has a thick-jewel case.
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Plus (Legend of the Galactic Heroes Plus) - $3 - Another strategy game, this one a space strategy game based on the classic space-opera anime franchise of the same name. This also has a thick-jewel case. Hopefully I can figure out how to play it, it looks good. - not listed on IGN.
3DO - I don't have a 3DO yet, but I will, it's the next classic console to get on my list. I now have 3 games, 2 controllers, and a save backup unit for the system... I really need an actual console to use the stuff on. :p
Hardware: I got a 6-button 3DO controller for $15, a weird-shaped Capcom one, for SSFII.
--
Rush 'n' Fire 'Megadas' - $3 - This is a weird game by Warp, the studio that also made D. This game only released in Japan, unlike that one. - not listed on IGN.
Prices below don't include their share of the shipping.

Ah well. :)

Rush 'n' Fire 'Megadas' - $3 - This is a weird game by Warp, the studio that also made D. This game only released in Japan, unlike that one. - not listed on IGN.
