Quote:I read the first sentence of the second one, and yep, don't want any part of whatever sexist shenanigans are going on here. It's actually better than the title of the original light novel series, which is "Miniskirt Space Pirates"... yeah, not great. The anime title 'bodacious" is better than that at least.
I don't see Studio Ghibli naming any of their movies something like that.
But actually, while these are animes about girls made for a probably mostly male audience, neither of these shows, not in their TV series or in these movie followups, are super-fanservicey affairs. There are zero pantyshots in either of these movies, and no bath scenes either. There is one scene in the Space Pirates movie that is a bit fanservicey, but that's nothing compared to what is in a lot of animes. The movie also has the maid cafe make an appearance and has a giant robot, though, so yeah, it's anime.
But Girls und Panzer, it has nothing at all as far as traditional fanservice of the cast goes. That fits with the tone of the original anime -- yes, it's about highschool girls, but it's not oversexed schlock. GuP's "fanservice" is for tank fans, not people who want to see scantily clad anime girls -- it's an action and character series, not a fanservice one.
So yeah, while Bodacious Space Pirates does have a couple of fanservicey elements that is not a major focus of the series, and Girls und Panzer really doesn't have any.
