Yeah, I loved SMB2 then as well, and I still like the game a lot. It's definitely one of the best platformers on the NES. Miyamoto also did work on it, and has said that he actually worked more on Doki Doki Panic than he did on the Lost Levels.
I know it's different, but different isn't worse, and SMB2 is a great example of that fact. Honestly it's kind of hard for me to decide between SMB2 and SMB3, they're both fantastic games... but I've always loved SMB2.
