Sure. But Retro's first game was even better than anything Rare produced.
Metroid is a cool game, and it's well made, but there is NO conceivable way--NONE--that is anywhere as good as Perfect Dark, or even GoldenEye. Those were awesome, replayable games with ground-breaking multiplayers, contemporary great graphics, and just a solid, fun playability...Metroid in my eyes cannot compete, nor can Retro. Rare was synonymous with Nintendo, with excellence...Retro will need to pull off some pretty nice crap to earn that stance.
Retro has already pulled off some "nice crap". Metroid Prime is better than anything Rare ever made, even though it lacks a multiplayer mode. And PD's graphics were not good for its time. GE's were, however. Both fantastic games, but neither of them reached the level of excellence that Metroid Prime did, IMO.

Hell if I know. But Nintendo must have made good use of that $150 million (or something).
Quote:Metroid Prime was and absolutely incredible game, sure... but Rare did have a stellar game lineup -- Blast Corps, B-K, DK64, B-T, Goldeneye, PD, JFG, DKR... as well as KI Gold and the not as good Mickey's Speedway USA... But that's one great lineup of games. And that can't be replaced with just one team, which is what Retro is...
Their N64 lineup was incredible. But I do not think that all of that money went to Retro, considering that Retro was formed way before the Rare sale. We still have Free Radical Design and Zoonami though! Too bad Nintendo won't buy out one of those companies...
