Sonic Rush is actually what I consider just another marker on Sonic Team's walk of shame lately. These current Sonic games... Well I worry about the new NiGHTS' future prospects...
A Sonic RPG... Well first of all I certainly hope they maintain the art style of the old Sonic games and not this new style. So far Bioware has done a pretty good job of nailing art direction though (at least in my opinion). Mario RPG? Loved that game, but they had a lot of room to work with to bring that out, and all the successors to that original formula have only improved on it. Sonic RPG? Well when I think Mario I think jumping action and neato powerups. That proved easy to translate into an RPG. When I think Sonic? I think massive speed and crazy ramps and loops and stuff. I just wonder how exactly this is going to translate into an RPG. I would imagine the battles would require some massive fields, far larger "combat zones" than any traditional RPG would make you think, where every action involves selecting a "path" to travel to attack various enemies, spending "seconds" in this paused state instead of normal energy (rings for special moves), and a big ol' glowy magical arrow showing the attack path you selected. Using the terrain around Sonic would involve pathing over a ramp to build speed for more attack, but at the cost of the time spent travelling that path selected.
You know? This might end up pretty good when I start thinking about it...
