That's sort of the point. Out of principle doesn't do anything for me :D, and MS doesn't care so long as I have their OS. Besides, I had linux installed for a time, but really I never used it "primarily" because I liked having my games a touch away without a restart.
Anyway, here's the solution to my problem. I turned off the media sharing service, deleted all the DRM files from my media player folder, and turned it back on. It recreated them in updated form and that solved the problem just fine. I just had to reshare the right forms.
