Behold, the power of marketing!
Something like that (for real) happened to Spielberg's A.I., in that the trailer did an absolute horrible job at presenting the feel of the movie. I went to A.I. expecting another "Bicentennial Man" but with Haley Joel Osment. Stupid marketing. But to their credit, it is hard to sell a depressing movie.
