Indeed, the system was terribly designed, but the innovation of wireless gaming with bluetooth plus online support was nice. Even online was terrible though (understandable, with the latency inherent in wireless phones) with just small stuff like high scores and games you could play on any cell phone anyway. Bluetooth was the best it had going, and I certainly hope Nintendo puts it in the next GB (and NOT just as an add-on that has to have support for it programmed into the game!).
