Does that mean you go forward but can't go backwards in levels? I am also hoping for "intentional glitch" throwbacks, like being able to run "over" a level, only this time since they might actually intend that, they might have surprises up there, like a boss battle against the level timer :D.

A fight against the timer! That's an awesome idea! Well, part of the whole Super Mario Bros. experience is those little "glitches" like running on the top of a level, the warp zone, and Zero World. I think they would have to keep them to preserve part of the feel of SMB (excapt perhaps Zero world). I man, come on, is there ANYBODY who doesn't know how to find the warp zones anymore? It's just one of those things that defines Mario.
