Lack of Yoshi is interesting, I assume that Mario's powerups are going to remain in the Mushroom/fire flower range, and perhaps Nintendo is hinting at the idea of Yoshi actually breaking off all together from the series and finding his own series.

In the Nintendo Power interview Tezuka says the reason for Yoshi not appearing in this game is because it's a spiritual successor to the original Super Mario Bros.

Did anyone notice that Tezuka confirmed the Koopalings being in the game?
