Miyamoto doesn't even call it toon shading (it's JAPAN, they speak JAPANESE). It's actually a stupid term that some of us Americans came up with.
I like it. Is it just me or does the whole thing look like picuters printed on a book? That could be an interesting style, but then again, I'll feel stupid if that's actually a magazine scan and it was revealed in that article I was too lazy to read.
