As a hypothetical it doesn't really apply teh jaguar taht is dark. You have a instrument that uses the palm of your hand along with clapping/rim shots from a mic sensor. So there's no real translation there to the Revcons. It wouldn't work out with any fluidity that conducive to DKJB anyway.
As drum sticks yes, it would work beautiful. But for bongos, spend the 25 bucks and get a pair and find the game for sale by itself (I've seen them for as cheap as 15 used). Or better yet, for 40 get the bongos with DKJB.
My taste in games is pretty well rounded and I have a good sense of gameplay as in what works, what doesnt and what can be enjoyed for months/years. I can tell you that i'll be playing DKJB on Revolution for a loooong time... WITH bongos that is. :D
I can also say that DKJB uses the bongos to an extent that I think Nintendo was really after. Of course Donkey Konga and it's sequel is awesome and well worth your time to sit down and play but DKJB is the real meat behind the peripheral imo.
For Revolution, hopefully they'll come out with something like 'Diddy's Rock & Roll' where you have a full virtual drum kit. The revcons would be able to detect what part of the drum you're hitting (altering the sound) how hard you're hitting, etc while also giving the player a full drum kit to mess around in though a side from having the two revcons it would be wise to include a foot pedal as well. You could even throw in just about any percussion instrument (like a xylophone) and unlike most music-games these could be full range virtual instruments
