NES emulation is complicated because lots of games use custom chips... I bet that they can't just use a universal NES emulator for all of those games but have to modify it a bit for some of them... or perhaps they made one emulator that worked with all the first-line titles and then when they did the next batch of NES titles on GBA they just fixed it up to work with all those games too. Who knows... but emulation isn't universal like that -- for instance the emulator in OoT/MQ for GC, when extracted, can run some other N64 games on the GC, but not all of them by any means... a relative few, I belive.
