I hate needles too, and definitely am not even close to being violent... and yes, youth violence is going down. But to people like that it doesn't matter... remember, "society is destroying itsself and we're doomed (and worse than we were in "the good old days")" is a very common societal concept in just about every civilization... from Rome on for sure and certainly before that. And most of the time it hasn't been true. :)
