Um, shining other light sources doesn't "block" it you know. Light lacks the strong and weak nuclear forces, so light can pass directly through other light. However, I can see how the reciever may be confused and the signal could be drowned out, in the same way that in direct sunlight you can't make out if the light in your GBA SP is on or off, for example.
