Programmers get paid pretty well. Unfortunately the standard game developer gets paid less than most and works harder than most for the joy of working on games. And they have to be really good. Dorks like me get paid too much to work or projects that are years late and tens of millions overbudget and don't do a lot of work because it is so horribly managed.
