The sky is blue because God made it that way. And because when light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through, very little of the red, yellow, and orange light being affected by the air, while the much shorter wavelength is absorbed by the gas molecules, at which time the absorbed blue light is radiated in different directions, scattering itself all over the sky above you. But God made all that so.
