Well maybe they should set it up so that you can choose. You know, the only way to be able to attack their town is to activate your own town's openness to attack. Then, you can instantly ruin their town with their anger the SECOND they actually attack your town, or enable their town to be open to ransacking themselves.

There, that's a compromise that works for everyone.
