The director of Alien 3 (1992) is David Fincher, the same guy who directed Fight Club and Se7en. Alien 3 never changed directors, Ridley Scott (director, Alien 1979) expressed interest in the project but it never started production with Scott as director. Fincher told the writers from the start that he wanted to kill Hicks and Newt to make Ripley's character broken in spirit as well as sever any ties to anyone really close to her so that she can die at the end a widow with no 'husband' and no 'daughter'.
James Cameron (director/writer Aliens 1986) was extremely pissed about the choice Fincher made and said in multiple interviews that he would never touch the Aliens franchise again after that. I believe Ridley Scott said something like that as well. But Fincher did a good job in my opinion. It Alien-ated *phunny!* alot of fans because they just got off the high that Alien (terror) and Aliens (action) created, and Alien 3 is much more introspective with Ripley's character so it didn't do that well. But Alien Resurrection (director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 1997) basically killed the franchise... and then 'AVP' raped it's rotting corpse so I wouldn't be surprised if we ever see another Alien movie that will be worth the 7 bucks to see it.
Also, your comment about Alien being boring until the end tells me that you're a moron and I dont need to waste anymore time talking to you.

Its not really the end its just half way when the alien finally appears and starts killing them.To me its like A New Hope vs Empire Strikes back , We still love A new hope but we like ESB more . I had good reason to not enjoy as much like you did the first time you saw it I knew what was gonna happen , Only Rippley and Jones would live. The Alien bursting out of the guys chest isnt scary anymore since I saw that scene before and in all the films. That Rapist robot and his head falling off was kind of funny.
The Alien himself was good , He made my tired worn out eyes jump on a few occasions, I admit this movie is less action more spooks and shreks not a bad thing.
Fincher has made some good movies recently but that probaily waisnt his best ,Killing Newt was a bone headed decision that hole mom thing was the biggest character developement Rippley had established in Aliens, She lossed her own daughter and adopted Newt now they killed Newt recycling the damn story again back to sqaure one. They didnt need to wreck her life and make her suicidal the fact she had a alien queen in her chest was reason enough to kill herself to save her daughter and the universe, It would have been more griping to see her sacrifice then her suicide attempt!
That movie would have been better if Newt had not died , Have Rippley become protective of newt from the human monsters rapist molesters in the place.
I would have respected Alien 3 or cubed had it not ended the way it did, Did you know before they conciderd the cloning thing in Ressurection, The first script wanted Rippley to wake up on the Sullaco realizing it was all a dream and Aliens 3 never happend.Alot of fans would have been happy and would have been a chance to do damage control.
