I certainly would say that going to Iraq to be a human sheild is really, really stupid... probly coming from way too much blind idealism. I mean, its IRAQ! Umm, you expect them to let you only protect schools or something? 
It comes from very good intentions to want to stop war... but all its doing is putting them in danger. It certainly won't change any US policies... its way too far for that.
It seems they finally realized that and did the smart thing and left...
Oh, and as for me I'd never even begin to consider doing something that would put me in any kind of danger that can't be avoided...
