Quote:Given I don't have a PSX or PS2, I can only go by the N64 game.
Even the N64 game was better than most of those games you listed.
Quote:No, N64, NGC, and PC.Haha, the PC. [sarcasm]What a great racing platform.[/sarcasm]
Quote:Though NGC is decidedly the junior partner. I have a lot of racing games for N64 and a lot for PC... and I happen to find futuristic-arcade racers like F-Zero or Wipeout to be my favorite kind of racing game. That is why so many of those are in my top 10... I like them a lot. And the N64 has a fantastic selection of arcadish racing games... certainly it has a vastly better racing selection than NGC. Only the PC, with its variety, can match it...
Listing consoles I have in mind when I list each game. (parentesis for other systems the series is on)
1. F-Zero - N64, NGC
2. Wipeout - N64, PC (PSX, PS2)
3. Rush - N64, Arcade (DC)
(hard to rank specifically after this, varies)
4. Extreme-G - N64, PC, NGC (PS2, XBox)
5. Pod - PC (DC)
6. Micro Machines - GB, GBC, PC (NES, N64, GBA, PSX, probably more)
7. Moto Racer (not 3) - PC (PSX)
8. Rollcage - PC (PSX)
9. Hydro Thunder (only single game here...) - Arcade, N64 (PSX, DC)
10. Ridge Racer - N64
I've been playing quite a bit of XGRA in the past few days. Great game. I love it. If the other cars were harder to beat and the weapon system was balanced it'd be one of the best... as it is it's only great. Not quite as good as F-Zero GX, but not that far behind... I'd certainly say that it's the second best racing game I've played on NGC after F-Zero GX.
What I'm trying to say is that if you like arcadish and futuristic racing games my list is great. It hits all the top serieses... F-Zero, Wipeout, Rollcage, Rush, Hydro Thunder (yes, it is a pretty popular game)... as well as some I really like too, like Pod and Extreme-G... is it missing stuff from other consoles? Perhaps. However, it's not as significant as you imply because a good number of PSX/2 games also come to PC. I just really like this kind of racing game.
The XG games and Pod are pretty average racers. There are so many better racers on the PSX, PS2, and X-Box.
