Right now games are in their infancy, and it's great to see developers like Hideo Kojima and Fumito Ueda (ICO) experimenting with game design, story-telling, and trying to see what can be done with the genre. There's really no standard yet, no perfect, established template to base games off of (in more than just gameplay terms), and that is personally very exciting and scary at the same time. This is why I want to become a game designer, because there are unlimited possibilities out there. It will make things all the more difficult, but you only live once and you have to at least try to do your best, right? Is anything really worth it without some risks?

I have some ideas... well, more like goals that I want to accomplish, and that's what drives me. That's why I'm trying to get all of these home-brewed games finished, as many as possible since I'm not going to be able to afford to get a degree in game design. Gotta make 'em without any formal education. That's good and bad at the same time, really. Bad because I'll be learning the hard way and will have to figure out even the basics on my own which might result in some mess-ups, but good because then I hopefully won't rely too much on convention and current standards.

What does this have to do with anything? Nothing. I'm rambling, this kind of stuff gets my blood pumping. :)
